Kapitel 13: Bought

He looked down at Ada, smiling at her as he held it out on the palm of his hand, "Here you go."

Ada's smile stiffened as she looked as if she had just been struck by lightning. Her entire body froze as her eyes were glued onto the single gold coin, unable to believe herself. Did the master perhaps make a mistake?

One gold coin? Just one! How could it be just one?! Even the half-blooded vampires or the elves were more generous than this. . . this. . .

Daphne did not know whether she should be surprised or not as she watched Ada gape at the coin in the man's hand. She could not tell whether the expression on Ada's face was a positive surprise or a negative shock. It seemed like. . .

Daphne looked at the gold coin, not sure how much that was worth here in this world. However, if it was pure gold, then it was a lot, right?! She was worth a whole fat gold coin!

Not that how much she was worth was important right now, especially since she was the one getting sold to a complete stranger at the moment. A stranger that did not seem very friendly or easy to mess with.

"Ma - Master Luci. . . Lucifer," Lady Ada stuttered, lifting on finger up as she gestured towards the coin, "Did you perhaps make a mistake?"

"Mistake?" Lucifer scoffed as he turned his palm around, dropping the golden coin on top of Ada's hand, but she could not catch it fast enough so it fell down onto the ground, making clunking noises as it bounced off towards the wall.

Then, he grabbed onto Daphne's wrist, pulling her out of the room behind him. Ada seemed to have finally recovered from her shock, and she immediately whirled around, forgetting to be scared.

"Wait!" One gold coin?! That couldn't work! Although the girl was also not worth a lot since she wasn't tamed, it had to be more than one gold coin. Even the cheapest was at least ten, and that was already very rare since most customers liked to pay more to exemplify their wealth.

Lucifer stopped in his tracks, turning around as he looked straight past Daphne as he was much taller than her and into Ada's eyes, narrowing his own, "Is there a problem?"

Ada gulped as her gaze quickly quavered away, too afraid to look him in the eye for over a second. After all, he was a. . .

"No, no," she could only respond, swallowing her complaints and anger as she looked towards Daphne and pressed her lips together to prevent them from trembling in frustration.

The man grinned crookedly as he replied, "Good," and then turned around once again, taking Daphne out of the room with him. As Daphne turned around, she could not help but muffle a slight chuckle when looking at the expression on Ada's face.

As of now, she could not help but be in a good mood. Having never liked Ada much, seeing her so frustrated was very pleasing to Daphne. As she smiled, her eyes traveled up to the man pulling her by her arm right now, and her smile stiffened.

Although this man was the cause of Ada's misery, Daphne could not get herself to like this man. Maybe it was something about the way he looked or the way he acted. . . It gave off a vibe she did not like.

They went down the stairs together, Daphne struggling to keep up with his long legs. He kept a tight grip on her so she could not pull her hand away.

They finally reached the main hall on the first floor and when the man's first feet stepped onto the red carpet, the floor seemed to immediately silence. Daphne looked around, wondering what had happened. Did she suddenly turn deaf?

Everyone in the room had turned to look at them, or look at the man to be more exact. Before Daphne could react or think about why this was so, the man had continued walking, his long straight legs marching out of the Brothel without looking back even once.

Outside, Daphne finally saw the bustling streets again. She had just seen it this morning, but it felt like a very long time.

On the street outside the Brothel, a large carriage was waiting, pulled by two ink black horses who did not move at all, looking as if they were statues. The carriage itself was also black, and as the man neared it, a tiny man that had been standing near the horses quickly tiptoed over, setting a stool down onto the ground and pulling the carriage door open.

The man had a hunched back and a long crooked nose. He was even shorter than Daphne and wore a black shirt and pants, his eyes darting around nervously as if he was committing some crime.

"Master," he bowed down, standing to one side of the stool as Lucifer came to a stop, walking to the side and looking back at Daphne.

Daphne was busy looking around at the streets, at this place that looked nothing like the city she had lived in. This reminded her of a street that might have existed several decades ago, made of dirt with people walking back and forth, a few riding carriages.

The only difference was that the people walking down this street looked nothing like the people Daphne lived with.

"Get on," she suddenly heard, causing her to flinch as she looked back around and saw the man looking straight into her eyes.

Without waiting another second, Daphne stepped onto the stool, stepping into the carriage, which had seats on three sides. She sat down to the right at the very corner, unable to see anything going on outside as the carriage walls were black.

A few seconds later, the man also got in, bending down to avoid his head bumping against the ceiling. He sat down in the back, right at the center.

Then, after the door was closed, there was a pause before the carriage took off, the wheels bumping against the rocks on the ground as they rode off.

Daphne refused to look at the man as she picked at her nails in the corner of the carriage. Should she escape? Or. . . Can she escape?

She glanced at the man and saw that he was looking at her, which made her very uncomfortable as she looked away again. This man seemed quite - very powerful. . . Maybe he could at least protect her from this crazy world?

But what if he would not protect her, and instead would be even more dangerous! At this point, Daphne could not draw any conclusions and she did not know what to think as she clenched her fist together, looking at her dry hands.

For now, she had nowhere to go, nobody she knew, and no power whatsoever. And from what has been happening so far, it seemed like she would not be leaving anytime soon, since she had no idea where she even was.

All she could do was find someone to cling onto. . . And there was a person not too far away right now!

Daphne gulped as she sighed, slouching back against the carriage wall.

During this time, Lucifer has been watching her, seeing her expression change from confused to deep thinking to helplessness. . . He did not know what she was thinking about, but the silence did not please him.

"What is your name?"
