The current Yamino was not lying to Connor. The words he said came from the bottom of his heart.

He knew very well that Asya already knew he had something to do with Tatum Lee's death, so he had lost his biggest backer in Rockefeller. Asya might even find someone to kill him.

Since he could no longer count on Rockefeller, then the best choice for Yamino now was to cooperate with Connor. In this way, not only could he get rid of Connor's pursuit, but he might even be able to get rid of Rockefeller's pursuit of him as well. This was simply killing two birds with one stone for him.
