Kapitel 67: Swirling Poison Corrupting Sect

It was the next day, and Qingchan was visibly in a good mood, this was thanks to Julong's achievements the day prior. In response to the question from that Xiao Dai, she merely nodded her head, telling him a few simple words before leaving him by himself.

"Come to the Swirling Poison Corrupting Sect tomorrow. Perhaps it is possible for us to assist you."

While both Julong and Qingchan thought that it was a little suspicious for a Sect to just outright offer assistance for such a lucrative goal, it was the only thing they had to go on. Even if it was a trap, it wouldn't matter since they were bound to fall into it at some point should they stay in the town.

So, just as requested, they were on their way toward the Sect.

As they traveled in each other's company, Qingchan could be seen with a brimming smile. It was almost like she was over-eager.

"You really need to calm down, Qingchan."

"How could I be? You found us a legitimate lead in a mere three days! I was expecting it to take at least a few weeks before we found anything, in which the Sacred Palace would already be present."

Julong shook his head as they walked through one of the marketplaces in the more wealthy district that they had found themselves in.

"Have you neglected the fact that this could be a trap? You were the one who brought this to my attention after all."

She waved off his comment with her hand.

"Even if it is a trap, we should be able to deduce their stance on the ordeal of finding the Ancient Serpent Scales. Why else would they approach you, let alone invite us if not for the Scales? What you said was very vague after all."

Julong nodded. What she had said made a lot of sense, and was something that Julong had deduced a little while ago himself. The question was: Were they against the presence of those trying to find the Ancient Serpent Scales?

"You seem worried."

"Well of course I am. In order to establish a Sect, you have to be above the Realm of a Divine-Dwelling Expert. If they so wish us to die, we might as well just accept our fate."

Qingchan looked at him like he was clueless. She then pulled out a Jade Tablet with yet another intricate rune.

"You do remember why Sect Master gave us these, don't you?"

"Of course, it's so if we run into inescapable trouble, we can break them and he can find us. Even so, wouldn't it be a little disgraceful if we were to return so early?"

She laughed a little.

"Don't be ridiculous, Sect Master would expect nothing less than for us to return empty-handed. He gave us these fully expecting them to be used. This is to prove that we have not lost to the Sacred Palace and that we will at least attempt to burden them. It will just be of great benefit if we succeed."

"I understand."

Walking further, they came face to face with a wall. It was incredibly similar to the one that surrounded the city, only this time, even stronger. There were visible Grade-8 Genesis Runes covering the wall meaning that there was someone of at least the Middle-Stage of the Materialising Realm. This indeed confirmed that there was someone who at least rivalled the strength of a Heavenly Sun Expert in the vicinity of the Sect.

If they were indeed hostile toward himself and Qingchan, they would definitely need to use the Jade Tablets that Qing Yang gave them.

Walking up to the gates, they seemed to automatically open upon coming close enough to them. They seemed to be expecting his arrival.

The gates slammed behind them abruptly, stopping anyone else from entering.

How foreboding.

Following the main path, Julong and Qingchan remained silent, not uttering a single word until they came to the door of the central structure of the palace-looking Sect. Just from looking around, it was obvious that the rest of the town had been modelled off of the structure before them.

"You think this is it?"

Julong brazenly spoke up. What harm could it do? If the Sect resented their presence, it was what it was.

"Pretty sure this would be where we would meet whoever it was that Xiao Dai wanted you to see, especially considering that this is the only place giving off Genesis Qi undulations. All the other places in the Sect have dead areas."

"Oh, so we're very special guests."

Julong couldn't help but roll his eyes.

"Let's just get this over with."

He moved toward the door, Qingchan not protesting in the slightest. She too wanted to figure out if it was a trap or not, either option would mean less time wasted regardless.

Upon opening the doors to their full capacity, they were greeted with a pitch black. It was like a void, no light being able to pass through. It was pretty accurate seeing that even the light from outside the doors couldn't breach the darkness. It was almost like a wall.

Julong put his hand forward, attempting to touch what was essentially nothing. When he did finally make contact, his fingers and hand went straight through like there was nothing there.

How interesting...

"I guess the only way in is through here. Rather daunting, no?"

Qingchan couldn't help but poke fun at the abrasiveness he had been showing all day. Julong rolled his eyes at her remark, walking straight in. There was already a predetermined result to their presence, one which they couldn't even hope to change unless they entered the void-like door.

She quickly followed in his footsteps, if anything she was the one who was more worried about the result of their appearance in the void. She was very good at putting up a strong front. While Julong couldn't see through it, day by day, she had noticed that he was able to spot the small cracks in her facades.

Upon entering it was undeniable that they had felt themselves enter a different space in time as they were greeted with a domain-like space that was filled with pitch-black darkness, just like the outside of the door.

Both began to circulate their Genesis Qi to light up the area around their bodies as to be able to see anything if it were there, they were presented with the immediate fact that the space they were in had no real laws of physics. It was rather reminiscent of the space Julong and Yao Yao had first met in. Maybe it was because everything else in the room was so dark that it appeared as if they were standing on nothing?

In the distance an undulation of incredible power burst forth, followed by a third light source made from Genesis Qi appearing. It was daunting and overbearing. An indescribable heat burst forth from the sight of their figure. Pressure boomed down on their bodies as if the heavens were resenting the existence of Julong and Qingchan.

The aforementioned two looked at each other with exasperated sighs before they were forced to the ground.

Yeah... it was a trap.
