When one is learning magic, an Apprentice Mage has to learn to 'Walk with Death', a quote that the ancestor of the Crimson Demon clan associated with someone of her stature and profession.
But the Explosion magic branch, An all-powerful magic introduced by her brother, (Specifically, his 'Do Not Read' notebook.) was something she focused on.
Her perseverance in the face of tragedy (Her classmates), rewarded her with her very own Adventurers Card, and early graduation from 'The Red Prison'! (Read: School.)
When she first started to Adventure, which was three years ago, the fresh-out-of-school seventeen-year-old -𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳'𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳'𝘴 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴- decided to join a party.
They were actually very nice.
…For a while at least.
The more she started to use her favorite Explosion magic, the less inclined they were to keep the ultimate Arch-Wizard company! So they left the Inn, and forced her to shell out most of the meager currency she had to pay for the room!
So she tried again with another party.
They… weren't as nice as last time, but it paid!
Though, their leader was… strange. Always glancing at me. I learned about his intentions when he triggered a trap of mine I set when he started to act… 'close'. His party didn't believe me at first, but after some missions, they got a hold of a magic artifact.
Specifically, a grand artifact made by my father, to finally see if I was lying.
They used it on the Leader, showering the room with evidence of his Perviness! They still kicked her out later because the others were head over heels for the pervert.
She was fine with it.
But her last party was a doozy.
It was an all-female party. A 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 touchy-feely all-female party.
Now, during her torture (Schooling), she never had time to consider relationships, wanting to graduate as early as was allowed by the Great Sage (Headmaster), which was oddly enough, 17.
Even if they already considered you an adult when you could cast Advance level magic.
It didn't stop them from 'helping' her. It was more cuddling and hugs if anything …𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮. (Read: 'Closet Pervert' Achievement gained!)
They 𝘥𝘪𝘥 say something about a quest involving a strange ring from some ruins, but she had to stay in that day from a cold.
…𝑻𝒉e𝒚 nev𝒆r c𝒂me b𝒂c𝒌.
But that didn't stop her! Kind of! …okay, maybe it hurt a lot.
She spent three days traveling to Axel, her Explosion magic either absolutely charing her freshly caught prey, or causing every animal in the vicinity to run away.
She had to spend three days without food, before finding the request board at the guild.
Then, she saw it, an ad for a new party.
'𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲! 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲! - 𝐀𝐪𝐮𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡-𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭/𝐆𝐨𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐬.'

"Are you looking for any new party members!?" I asked, mustering the meager amount of energy I still had. The guy with brown hair and strange clothing looked surprised, "Uh… Yeah, are you-"
But I had to introduce myself, the basic Crimson Demon greeting! "I, am Megumin! My calling is that of an Arch-Wizard, one who controls explosion magic, the strongest of all offensive magic!"
"Um-"
"Do you, too, desire my forbidden strength? Which is so almighty, I've been ostracized by the entire world?" I questioned the strange boy.
"H-Huh?"
"Then show me thine resolve to peer into the ultimate abyss with me!" I bellowed.
His eyes started to twitch, probably blinded by my incredible greeting!
"When man stares into the abyss, the abyss stares ba-" But he interrupted, rude!
"Are you just here to poke fun at us?" He questioned.
"N-No!" I tried to sate this strange boy with apologies, But the blue haired woman sprang up in suprise, and… slurred… something, "𝘵𝘩𝘢' 𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘺𝘦… 𝘢𝘩𝘳 𝘶𝘰 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘯?" she… slurred?
She seemed to be quite drunk.
"Indeed! I am Megumin, the user of the finest magic crimson demons possess! My lethal magic…" I started to sway, it seemed my fatigue caught up to me, "Smashes boulders…" and I began to fall before I felt a warmth.
*𝙑𝙄𝙋𝙏*
It felt… s𝒂𝒇𝒆, w𝒂r𝒎.
I opened my eyes, to spot ̶a̶n̶ ̶A̶l̶r̶u̶n̶e̶ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆.
I finally understand what Mom meant by 'You'll know who you love when you stare it in the face'
