Kapitel 6: Chapter 6: Striking a Deal
*Two Years Later*
In the last two years, my mother has taken the time to explain most of the political standing, of our house, as well as our history. In short, my mother was supposed to be one of the original Satans, and rule the Underworld with Lucifer, Beelzebub, Leviathan and Asmodeus, but she had no desire to rule with fear like them, nor did she detest the other devils. Instead, she chose to live acting like a noble house, though she didn't give up her political power, instead suggesting something to Lucifer to keep us as a hidden power in case of war.
The other Satans scoffed at her decision, saying they weren't cowards and didn't need to hide their strength, but she ignored them listening only to Lucifer. He, unlike the others, still saw merit to it, even if he would never suggest it personally. Much to the surprise of the others, he agreed to her decision, putting our house where it is now politically.
As far as training, I just finished mastering my time manipulation, which pushed me forward to ultimate class and I am by far the most powerful person even remotely around my age. Grayfia, Kouko, Serafall, and Ajuka who have all been training as well, are all only at High-Class(Mid), while Reyna is at High-Class(Low).
Looking in the mirror, I realize that I have grown up to look completely different than my mother, while my sister could easily pass as her twin. Unlike my mother and sister, who have orange hair, mine is auburn, which is about neck long and messily made. The only thing that I share with my mom is her amber eyes, though my pupils are almost vertical slits, which even I am unaware of why that is, I also stand at 6'4'' (1.93 meters).

Throughout these last two years, I've taken Grayfia, Serafall and even Kouko on numerous dates around the Underworld, though I never stopped training outside of those dates. Ajuka, with my help, was able to make an energy shield that's resistant to holy damage, but can be powered with demonic power. Now he is focused on creating the Evil Pieces, which he wasn't supposed to make for almost a hundred years later, though he is still extremely far from finishing them.
While Serafall and I were in Agreas for a date, I was looking around the would be popular tourist city, and I couldn't deny that it was a beautiful city. As of now though, with how prejudice the nobles are to the rest of the devils, and even lower noble houses, there wasn't the concept of tourism for anyone other than noble houses.
But that is all besides the point, while I was there, I found crystals that the nobility used for decorations called Sky Crystals. They had the property of channeling and adapting to the demonic energy signature of whoever was using them, which would work perfectly as the main component for the Evil pieces. So while we were there, I arranged with the second strongest clan of the 72 pillars, the Agares Clan, though due to them being busy, I had to come back the next day, which was no problem.
Thus the next day I arrived outside of their manor, and was escorted into the greeting hall by the guards outside. Waiting for me in the greeting hall was Lord Agares, and his son, Oliver Agares, who was a few years older than me.
They greeted me with a smile, "Hello Lord Maara, I'm glad to finally be able to meet you personally, this is my son Oliver."
I smiled amiably back at him, "It's good to meet you too Lord Agares, though feel free to call me Valerian, I'm not the head of my house yet, so there's no need for formalities with me." Turning to Oliver, "Hello again Oliver."
He smiled, "You've caught up to me in height Valerian." He said in a relaxed and calm tone.
Lord Agares looked back and forth between us with a raised eyebrow, seeing his confusion I clarified, "We met years ago at my birthday/engagement party. We spent some time getting to know each other. Out of all the nobles I met there, your son was one of the ones I got along with."
"Ahh, that makes sense then. Well, how about we sit down for a bit." He said and lead the way to two opposing couches.
Him and Oliver sat on one, while I sat on the other, then he spoke up, "Tea?"
"Please." Hearing me, the maid standing off to the side bowed and left to get tea.
"Well, while we wait, what can I do for you Valerian?" Lord Agares asked me.
"I would like to purchase some Sky Crystals from you, roughly a crate full."
Lord Agares looked surprised, but quickly turned calm once again, "That's not a problem, we just use them for decorations, but they're quite rare so we still keep all of them. Do you plan to use them as decorations?"
"Ahh, no actually, I noticed they have a few properties that could be very useful if utilized properly, so I will give them to Ajuka to research on."
"Ahh you must be talking about their properties to store demonic energy correct? We tried making portable energy sources from them, but they never held the energy long enough to be used for that." He replied with full attention.
"I would prefer to keep the details of the research a secret for now. Apologies. If it indeed works, we will need more, so partnering with you for this would be beneficial to all of us." I replied quickly.
He seemed to think of it for a second before nodding, "Well, then don't bother with the pay, think of it as an investment. If you can find a true purpose for them, we will be glad to make arrangements with you later."
'Hah, smart guy. We both know they have little value to you at the moment. Giving them for free now will mean nothing if it turns into a failure, but if it succeeds, you will be in a place for a better deal.' I though to myself with approval at the mans cunning.
"I won't be polite then. Thank you for the help, also I'll make sure that Ajuka knows where to get these in the future if the research does bear any fruit." I replied.
The maid that left to get the tea walks in with three hot cups of tea, and sets them on the table in front of each of us. Lord Agares looks at one of the guards in the room and speaks up, "Go and get a crate of sky crystals from the storehouse and bring it here."
The guard bows and walks out of the room. The next few minutes are spent in idle chatter between the three of us as we drink our tea, before the guard walks in carry a crate of slightly shimmering clear crystals. He sets it down next to my couch before standing in his previous position.
Gulping my remaining tea down, I quickly stand up and walk over to the crate. "Thank you for your time Lord Agares. As much as I would like to stay and chat some more, I have some business to attend to, as I'm sure you do as well, so I will be taking my leave."
"Unfortunately I do, it was nice meeting you young man. I look forward to our cooperation in the future." He said back as his son also said his goodbyes.
I pick up the crate and teleport directly outside of the Astaroth Manor's gate. Seeing me appear, the guards immediately open the gate, already used to my presence due to being good friends with Ajuka, and when I come here to help with his research whenever I have free time.
I walk to his workshop, which is a small(er) building off to the side of the manor. Arriving outside, I knock on the door and wait for it to be opened. Only a few seconds after knocking, the door is opened by Reyna, who I've gotten used to seeing here, as she is also a researcher, like Ajuka, and helps us out as well.
Seeing me with a box, she moves aside and lets me enter, curious about what I brought.
As we walked farther into the lab I asked, "How is your project going?"
"Quickly." She replied with a tired sigh. I could tell Ajuka was in one of his moods where he cares about nothing but researching and experimenting. It meant he was really focused, which made me chuckle. "Then you will be happy to know I have something that might help." She nodded but didn't quite take my words seriously. We finally arrived at the back of the lab, where a reinforced door is. Just as I was about to open it, an explosion was heard on the other side of the door and Reyna got an irritated expression drawn on her face, "Not again Ajuka!" We both walked in, well she stormed in, and saw a sight that made me laugh out loud. Ajuka was standing there with his a black, smoking face, while his hair was standing straight up, also pitch black from the explosion. Not bothered by it, I said, "Yo, I brought you some more research materials. Also try not to neglect your fiancé with it." I jabbed at him with a grin on my face. Reyna proceeded to reprimand him for blowing up the lab again.
"Dear, I just had a magic circle explode in my face, are you not worried about me too?" Ajuka asked her with a helpless look.
"Fuck no, you're the one who blew yourself up, don't fuck up my lab again or you're sleeping on the couch for the next decade."
This caused me to laugh out loud at his plight while he nodded his head like a woodpecker before looking over at me. "What'd you bring us?" He asked.
