Kapitel 28: Moonlight Talks
Thirteen walked out of Arlong Park and sat on a piece of rubble next to Luffy, who turned to him and looked at him for a second before saying "You let them go?" Thirteen tilted his head before nodding at him.
Luffy blinked before grinning and leaning back, propping himself up on his hands as he said "Cool! That shark guy was tough!" Sanji stood behind Luffy and muttered "That karate guy wasn't too bad either…" while Usopp shook and before patting his chest, claiming "That gu-guy with the long mouth was a chump!"
Sanji looked at him and chuckled as he muttered "I heard Big Cat saying something about how long noses are high in protein…" Usopp froze and stiffly turned his head to Thirteen, who just blankly stared at him, scaring Usopp out of his wits and making him faint again.
Sanji laughed and Luffy smiled looking at his friends.
Suddenly, the marines from before ran over and the leader roared "You damn Sla-" Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp, who miraculously woke up, all punched, kicked, and fired a slingshot at him, sending him flying through the crowd of Marines.
The villagers looked over and clammored at the Marines, yelling "Get out of here!" before they started hitting the marines with their weapons. A Marine off to the side snapped pictures of Luffy and Thirteen before he was chased off by the villagers.
The Marines fled from the island with their leader, sailing away on their little boats and finally disappearing.
Thirteen just looked at the marine with a blank face while Luffy grinned and made a pose as his picture was taken.
Nami walked back over and said "What did I miss?" Luffy smiled and said "The marines took our pictures!" Nami shouted "WHAT?!" before arguing with Luffy.
Meanwhile, Genzo and Nojiko approached Thirteen, stopping in front of him.
Thirteen looked up at the duo and sat there silently, Genzo blinked and Sanji slid over, holding Nojiko's hand as he said "Nojiko, my angel, this kitty doesn't talk, allow me to be your translator~!" Nojiko gave Sanji a funny look as she replied "And you speak silence?" Sanji spun and bowed, replying "I will speak any language for you."
Nojiko rolled her eyes and Genzo bowed 90 degrees to Thirteen, saying "Thank you for saving Nami and Nojiko at the house!" Thirteen just nodded at him and Genzo looked at him awkwardly as he straightened out.
Nami came over and waved quickly, explaining "He really doesn't talk a lot unless he knows you so don't take it personal! Haha…" Genzo nodded awkwardly while Nojiko slid over to Nami and elbowed her, giving her a look and a smirk.
Thirteen stopped paying attention and sat in silence as people started getting rowdy around him. Luffy suggested a party and the villagers agreed, cheering and starting to set things up.
It didn't take long for the party to start.
Thirteen sat off to the side, leaning against a wall, sitting on a barrel with one leg hanging off and the other bent. He watched as the crew partied and had fun with the villagers, even Zoro was up and about, drinking.
Thirteen's tail flicked and he hopped off the barrel, walking away from the party to a cliff with a grave on it. He ignored the grave and started working out off to the side, it was better that he stayed away from the villagers.
They didn't like him and he didn't like them, so why even bother to pretend to fit in?
As Thirteen trained, Zoro walked over with a barrel on his shoulder. He put the barrel down and whistled "Big Cat! Come drink with me!" Thirteen looked over at Zoro and wiped his forehead with his arm before walking over.
Zoro grinned and patted the keg, saying "Ever drink before?" Thirteen sat down and shook his head, looking at the keg. Zoro chuckled and punched through the top of the barrel before drinking straight from it as Thirteen watched.
He put it down and pushed it to Thirteen, wiping his mouth with his arm. Thirteen grabbed the Barrel with one hand and lifted it to his lips before drinking from it. He took a few sips and put it down before licking his lips and making a face.
Zoro took the barrel and chuckled as he drank before putting it down and getting serious, asking "Why did you come back?" Thirteen looked at him silently and Zoro passed the barrel, adding "Nami told us you left with the Marines… The rest was pretty easy to fill in."
Thirteen drank from the barrel as Zoro looked out past the cliff and spoke again "I'm guessing you were going to leave on the marine ship? Which is strange because you could've easily killed all those marines." he turned to Thirteen and asked again "So I'm asking you why."
Thirteen put the barrel down as he said "This is too sweet." Zoro just stared at him before replying "It's a fruity wine." Thirteen turned to the sea and flicked his tail behind him, he stayed silent for a few moments before saying "I left with them because Nami and her sister were behind me. If they started shooting at me, I can't guarantee I'll stop all the bullets." Zoro raised a brow and retorted "Why? You don't owe any one of us. Though Luffy says you do, you really don't and you know that. So then why risk your life for any of us?"
Thirteen blinked at the crescent moon in the sky before replying "I don't know." Zoro looked at him and drank from the barrel with one eye open as Thirteen added "A lot of things have been happening that I don't know about." he looked at his hands and feet before revealing "Sometimes my hands and feet move without me telling them to."
Zoro put down the barrel and looked at Thirteen seriously, as he put his hands down and stared blankly at the sea silently, flicking his tail behind him. Zoro turned to the sea and stayed silent as he passed the barrel to Thirteen.
Thirteen drank from it before passing it back, Zoro finished it and stood up. He stretched his back and said "I hate fruity wines." Thirteen looked at him and he added "Want to train?" Thirteen nodded and stood up as they walked to the side and started working out again.
All the while, Luffy, Usopp, Nami, Nojiko, and Sanji watched from the side. Luffy took a bit out of his meat on a stick and said "Do you think Zoro asked him to join our crew?" Nami, Usopp, and Sanji looked at him as he added "But I wanted to do that!"
They rolled their eyes and Sanji said "I don't think Moss Head has the brains to put the words together and say that." while Usopp gulped and asked "Do you think he eats brains?" Nami smacked his head and said "What is he? A zombie?" Usopp rubbed his head and muttered "I don't know… Isn't he a tiger?"
Nojiko looked at Thirteen and said "Well, he saved my life. So I would like to thank him. Who knows, maybe he'll just stay on the island forever?" Luffy shouted "No! He won't!" Sanji clicked his tongue and inhaled angrily, looking at Thirteen, muttering "What a show-off, I should've smashed a ship from the sky too… Damn!"
As Luffy and Nojiko argued, Thirteen and Zoro looked over before Zoro said "Let's go somewhere else." Thirteen looked at the chaotic group and nodded before they left.
