Piaget walked down the stairs and opened his arms to give Karen a big hug.

he looked at the coffee on the dining table,

and said apologetically,

"I'm sorry that you had to make your coffee by yourself when you came."

"Your wife made it for me," Karen said.

"My wife? Who?" Piaget looked puzzled, "Jesus, Linda is gone. Don't you remember, Karen? You handed her ashes to me."

I should be saying that to you!

"So, you think I opened the door myself and walked into your house?"

"Well, if not?" Piaget laughed, "I'm not in the habit of locking doors because the security around here is pretty good. The police chief lives in the house across the street.
