Kapitel 47: Chapter Forty Seven: Eris Vs the Golden Scorpion
"Theocracy?" Lucas asks as he stands.
"That's right. At least fifty. And one of them is pretty damn strong too," says Eris and she and the dragon knight stand, "You two stay here. Hadrian, you keep them safe just in case the theocracy manages to get around me."
"Understood, your highness." Hadrian answers.
"Wait, you're going to fight them by yourself?!" asks the princess worryingly.
"Why not. The others are not a threat. It's just one that I'm a little wary of and I highly doubt I'll lose to him," she turns to see Valery's worried expression, "Don't worry. This won't take long," Eris says with a smile.
With that, the vampire walks out to greet her opponent. It takes her a short walk to make it to the edge of the village where she finally sees the incoming force with her own eyes. There are fifteen mages and forty knights with another leading the charge. The leader has black pants, and golden-colored, light armor on his chest, forearms, and forelegs, giving him a gladiator-like appearance. His chest plate has what seems to be a scorpion depicted on it. He has dark gold hair, blue eyes, and slightly tan skin. In his right hand he carries a spear similar to those of ancient china, with a dark wood handle and a golden head. Using her Demon Eyes of Knowledge, Eris can see that he's a lot stronger than any soldier in his company. His eyes lay upon Eris and his face instantly bends from a smile to a frown.
"Tch! Damn it. We were too late to stop them from meeting. Oh well, we can at least kill the vampires and the girl at the same time. This saves us the trouble of finding the vampire that the princess was supposed to meet. Hey! Do you hear me, you beast?! If you tell me where the princess is and give her up without a fight, I promise to make your death painless.," says the knight.
"Pfft… Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!" Eris laughs with tears almost coming out of her eyes.
"What's so funny, monster?"
"Oh, just the fact that you think that you can actually defeat me. The humans of Reogradia are far too cocky for my taste."
"You dare insult my great country?!" the knight asks with a vein popping out of his forehead, "The insolence of you beasts never seizes to amaze me. I am no mere knight. I am Colton, the Golden Scorpion!"
A few moments of awkward silence ensue as Eris looks at Colton with a blank expression, "Am I supposed to… care?"
"Tch! You're a fool. I am part of Sacred Six, the most powerful group of elite knights on the continent. I have been given the blessing by the god Reogradia. I have slaughtered thousands of you disgusting monsters! You stand no chance against me."
"Oh really? Well, that just makes me want to kill you more. Do you want to do this one on one, or do you want me to kill your subordinates before you embarrass yourself?"
"Ha! And you called me cocky," he says with a grin.
"Well, either way, I'd rather not have them interfere with our battle."
Saying this, Eris raises her hand. Using one of her spells, dark clouds begin to cover the light of the sun. Thunder is heard getting louder and louder as the seconds pass. Sparks of lighting begin to streak across the sky. Colton, realizing what's about to happen, quickly puts up a magic barrier. At that moment, multiple magic circles appear in the sky and giant bolts of light come crashing down on top of Reogradia's force. Booming thunder echoes through the sky as the lighting strikes. A massive explosion is created by the lighting itself and the soundwaves of the thunder. After a few moments of waiting, the dust settles, revealing Colton still standing with a dome shield over his body.
He wears an extremely agitated expression on his face, "You damn monsterrrr!!!"
Eris smiles and answers, "Bring it on!"
In an instant, Colton dispels his shield, and launches himself at Eris with extraordinary speed. He thrusts his spear, hoping to hit the vampire's heart, but Eris evades the attack, and kicks him in the side of his torso. The Golden Scorpion is sent flying back, but manages to recover midair and land on his feet. Colton attacks once more, this time attempting to sweep Eris' legs out from under her. This time, Eris dodges by doing a backflip, creating a crimson fireball in her hand midair, and sending it straight into Colton. The force of the resulting explosion is strong enough to send both Eris and Colton back. Eric lands on her feet while Colton is sent to the ground. The knight now has chips in his armor, and burn marks on his face and arms.
"Is this all the blessings of Reogradia can do?" Eris asks, provoking Colton.
The Golden Scorpion grits his teeth and uses enhancement magic on himself. His body becomes outlined by red, blue, and green flame-like auras. This time, when he attacks, he's much faster, his strike is stronger, and he's much more accurate. But, even with his enhancement, Eris is able to easily dodge his horizontal swipe with his spear by bending backwards. While still in the middle of her evasion, Eris sends her foot straight into Colton's stomach. He coughs up blood as a result of the hit and is sent flying backwards yet again.
"You… you're even more of a monster than any of your friends!" the Golden Scorpion says as he holds his stomach in pain.
"You know, you theocracy goons have a bad habit of calling being like myself monsters when you're the ones trying to kill innocent people. Does anyone from Reogradia have any sense at all?"
"You disgusting woman!! I'll kill you if you dare insult my great nation again!!" he shouts angrily.
"You said that before but so far you haven't lived up to your own hype. Sorry, I'm not that intimidated. I really hope that you have something more, otherwise this is going to be very boring," Eris answers before yawning.
"Tch! Fine! If you want to die so badly, I'll happily oblige!!"
A magic circle appears underneath Colton's feet that glows with a brilliant golden light. Afterwards, a massive creature appears behind him from the light of the circle. The beast resembles a massive scorpion with eight legs, and four giant pincers. The monster has a golden exoskeleton that covers it like armor and two long tails both with a large stinger at the end. Each of its eyes glow with an eerie red color.
"SSSKKKKRRRREEEEEEE!!!" the giant scorpion roars.
Eris smiles, "That's an impressive spirit beast."
Using her Demon Eyes of Knowledge, Eris can tell that this monster is quite strong, though not as powerful as Rose. In Legend Conquerors Online, spirit beasts are rare spirits, and most of the time, they are more powerful than a normal spirit. The reason that Eris smiled is because Colton is already as strong as Serena when she's fused with Rose. But, with this spirit beast, his strength will be amplified by a large amount.
Just as Eris predicted, Colton uses spirit fusion with his massive spirit beast. The two of them are wrapped in a green light, and when it fades, Colton has changed. The Golden Scorpion now wears a set of full plate armor, completely blocking out his facial features. He has two, devilish horns on the forehead of his helmet, and an emblem on his shoulder plates and chest that resembles a scorpion. On both of his gauntlets, he has a shield that resembles the claw of a scorpion. Finally, instead of wielding one spear, he wields two, one in each hand. The spears are golden in color like the rest of his armor and have tips that look similar to a scorpion's stinger.
"Nice. You might actually have a chance of injuring me now."
"You cannot defeat me you damn monsterrr!!!" he yells, attacking Eris.
This time, instead of attacking Eris directly, Colton stays at a distance, and his spears shoot out their stinger-like tips, both having a magic chain that attaches them to the staff. The vampire smiles, unfurling her wings, and flies to avoid the on-coming spears. But, much like Serena's Hydra's Bite, the spearheads trace Eris' movements, and since it's a magic chain, it has unlimited reach. Eris summons Nightmare, and deflects the spearheads, but they recover and come charging back at her again.
"I've never seen weapons like these in the game," she murmurs to herself, "But, that doesn't mean that I don't know how to stop them!"
One of the spear heads flies towards her, and this time, instead of deflecting it, she avoids it, and cuts through the magic chain with her weapon. Both the chain and the spearhead disintegrate, and Eris smiles in victory. However, that smile is quickly wiped off her face as another spear head appears on the spear that was lost, and Colton launches it once more.
"His weapons can regenerate?! Come on, that's not fair!"
As the two stingers approach her, this time she puts up a blue, magic barrier. Unfortunately, the spearheads penetrate the shield, creating several cracks in it. After a few seconds, they emerge from the back of the magic barrier entirely and Eris barely manages to evade them.
"They can pierce magic shields too?! His weapon is almost as impressive as mine," Eris says with a smile.
Eris suddenly appears right in front of Colton. This catches him off guard, being that she was in the air and several meters away from him, and she manages to reach him faster than he can blink. Still trying to process what happened, Colton is unable to stop Eris as she sends her fist straight into his stomach. The shot is strong enough to break Colton's armor while he coughs up a pile of blood, some of which gets through his helmet and onto Eris' cheek. The vampire then wipes the blood off her cheek with her thumb, and licks it. Afterwards, she takes a few steps back, allowing the knight of Reogradia to drop his weapons, fall to his knees, and double over in pain.
"You've impressed me, Colton. But unfortunately, your days of pointlessly killing my kind are over," she says, gripping her black sword in her hand tightly.
After taking off his helmet and spitting up another puddle of blood, he looks up at Eris, "You won't stop me. You won't stop us! You will never stop Reogradia from cleansing this world!!"
Saying this, Colton becomes enveloped in a bright blue light. The light is strong enough to disable Eris for a moment, and after a while the light fades. When it fades, Eris finds that Colton is nowhere to be seen. No weapons or pieces of armor are left, only the blood that he spilt on the ground.
"Damn it. He had some kind of warping item," Eris says with a frustrated look, "Little coward probably went back to the theocracy," she then sighs, "I know that I like to fight, but maybe I should stop fighting and just go ahead and kill my enemies. Oh well. The princess is safe and I'm sure that I've thoroughly scared the living crap out of the theocracy by now. Hopefully, I'll act as a deterrent and Reogradia will be afraid to pull anything in the near future."
Later, Lucas, Valery, Eris, and Hadiran are all standing outside the entrance of the village. Lucas holds the reins of a horse in his hand and both him and him, the princess, and the vampire all have warm smiles on their faces. The sun is just starting to set over the horizon.
"Thank you so much for protecting us, Miss Eris," says Lucas.
"Don't mention it. After all, it's like the princess said. We have a common goal," Eris answers.
"Where will you be going after this?" Valery asks.
"Me and my friends, as well as Serena, will be heading to the capital of Rimore. You might not be hearing from us for a while, but I'll have some familiars keep an eye on you just to be safe."
"That's much appreciated," says Lucas.
"Oh, and I think you'll find this useful as well, Lucas," Eris says, summoning a sword with magic and handing it to Lucas, "That weapon's name is the Red Dragon's Claw. It'll increase your fire power exponentially and allow you to better protect the princess."
Lucas takes the weapon and examines it. The sword's blade is charcoal black, its guard is red and in the shape of dragon wings, and it has an obsidian-colored handle and a red, circular pommel.
"Thank you so much. I promise that I won't let your gift go to waste," says Lucas with an excited smile.
"I'm glad. I plan to register as a hunter in the future, so I will get in contact with you soon."
"What name will you be going under?" asks the princess.
Eris thinks for a moment, and then smiles, "Alexia."
The four of them finish their goodbyes, and then Eris teleports away with Hadrian.
