Kapitel 20: She Means A Lot
Caroline's love for Carlos is so great, she is even willing to betray Alice.
She became a cruel woman because she had snatched her best friend's husband.
But sadly, now Carlos couldn't ever forget Alice.
Caroline feels disappointed and angry at Carlos. Almost every day his face is always gloomy and always says if he misses Alice.
"Carlos, please . . . please stop remembering Alice. Look at me now. And I could do anything to replace Alice!" said Caroline reassuringly Carlos.
"Sorry, Caroline, I love you, but I still love, Alice," Carlos said.
"Then from now on, you must erase your feelings! Or if necessary you can think of me as Alice!"
"But you and Alice are different people! You can't be Alice, Carol!"
"I can, Carlos! I can be anyone for you!"
"But-"
"Look at me, and try to remember how you fell in love with me, remember that you once said that I was much better than, Alice! You did all this for me! So please forget Alice, and let's get married!" Caroline said hopefully.
Carlos was silent for a moment at Caroline's words.
What the woman said was true, didn't he used to love Caroline very much?
But somehow now his mind was distracted by his longing for Alice.
Only after Alice left him did Carlos realize how precious Alice was.
Caroline is indeed prettier and sexier than Alice.
But Caroline wasn't as good and strong as Alice.
Alice is an independent woman, and a hard worker, she never depends on anyone for her life she is always there for Carlos.
She could do anything herself without having to ask Carlos for help, but she still thought Carlos was there and always respected him as a husband.
Alice is also a woman who never demands anything from him, everything she does is always sincere.
She is a woman who wants to live a hard life. When Carlos was still struggling from scratch to reach his career.
At first, their life was very happy, they rarely quarreled.
But unfortunately, Carlos is even tempted by Caroline, a woman he just met. The woman had destroyed his household.
About a year after Carlos betrayed Alice, the man put a fake smile on the person who truly loved him.
It was natural that Alice didn't want to forgive him at this point, but Carlos still wanted to try to get his ex-wife's forgiveness. He wanted to fix everything. And make Alice happy all her life. If Alice was willing to give Carlos a second chance, then this opportunity would never be wasted again.
But, it's all over. The marriage has run aground.
It's just that there is still a desire from him to continue fighting for Alice.
Carlos slowly grabbed Caroline's hand, he looked deeper into the brown-eyed girl.
"Caroline, I'm sorry. I may sound like I'm toying with you, but the truth is I still love Alice. So I beg you. Please understand my position..."
"I fully understand your position, Carlos! You are now mine! So I will fight for you!" Caroline narrowed her eyes. She knew what Carlos wanted to say. Certainly, something she never wanted to hear.
"Carol, let's end our relationship," Carlos said.
"No!" Caroline screamed, "What do you think I am?! I love you more than anything, Carlos! Even more than myself! So please don't leave me!" said Caroline with tears in her eyes.
"But now my feelings for Alice are much greater than my feelings for you!"
"But you're divorced from her, Carlos! Then what else do you want from her? You think she still wants to come back to you?!"
"... well, I know... maybe she won't come back to me, but... I'll try!" Carlos spoke confidently.
"You are cruel, Carlos! You left me only to find someone who didn't necessarily accept you!"
"She may not necessarily accept me, but at least I tried!" Carlos insisted.
"Please forget her, Carlos!"
"No! I will never forget, Alice! I just realized how much I love her, and Alice means so much to me!" Carlos insisted.
Caroline didn't know what else to do, she had spent everything to get Carlos to marry her and forget about Alice.
"Caroline, please forget me. Let me chase Alice. I'm sure you'll find a man a thousand times better than me," Carlos whispered, holding Caroline's hand.
"I don't need a much better man than you, because all I need is you, Carlos!" said Caroline. Her eyes filled with tears.
But, love cannot be forced. I'm sure if you also feel sorry for Alice, then let me go after Alice. If you let me go, then that means you're also trying to atone for all your wrongs with Alice."
Carlos' words this time made Caroline unable to refute.
Even though she loves Carlos very much, and can't let Carlos go. But deep in her heart, there is a speck of guilt that she is trying to hide.
The sin that always loomed over her, because she had snatched Alice's husband. Yet all this time Alice had trusted her and had always been Caroline's best friend. Even when she fell into big trouble, Alice was the only person who was always there and helped her slowly get up.
Caroline didn't have time to repay Alice's kindness, but instead, she left a gaping hole in Alice's heart.
"Carlos, I'll give you a chance to catch up, Alice. But only this once. If Alice doesn't want to come back to you, then you'll have to come back to me," said Caroline.
Carlos smiled at Caroline's words.
"Thank you, Carol. You have allowed me to go after Alice. I will try to get the woman, but if Alice doesn't accept me, then I will come back to you," Carlos said. The man's face looked a little happy.
It was fine if Caroline didn't want to part with him, but at least Caroline had given Carlos permission to go after Alice.
"Then let's go home now, I'll take you," said Carlos. He extended his hand toward Caroline.
Caroline got up, wiped her tears, without holding Carlos' hand.
She walked in front of Carlos, with a disappointed expression.
'I did allow you to go see Alice, but from the bottom of my heart, I keep praying that Alice doesn't bring you back, Carlos,' said Caroline in her heart.
"Caroline, are you okay?" Carlos asked as she took Caroline's hand, while the woman's face stiffened without a word.
