After fleeing the scene, Trutet could now be seen moving rapidly through the forest, jumping from tree to tree in a consistent and fast motion. His heart was beating incredibly fast as beads of sweat ran down his forehead.
Occasionally, he glanced back over his shoulder, fearing that he was being followed. Thankfully, there was nothing but trees and shrubbery, barely visible in the thick fog that covered the forest. Regardless, he continued at his pace for a little while longer before coming to a stop near a particularly large tree in a clearing in the woodland.
Once he reached this tree, he quickly descended from his perch on the branch and slid down the tree's trunk. Upon reaching the ground, he placed his hand on it, ears keenly listening, pushing ever so slightly as he tried to detect any movement.
