QUENTIN FELT AS THOUGH his insides were pulled tight and straining. Keeping his eyes on the road was an almost constant struggle. His shoulders ached from the tension of gripping the wheel as tightly as he held it.

Being around Candi was pleasure and torture.

He'd never met anyone who was so easy to be around. Most people wore on him to some point. But not her. It only served to remind him of all the good times.
