Kapitel 5: The Day It All Began | Remnants Of Legends Arc #2

In their first year of adventuring, Jaron and Fayden insisted on completing dungeons by themselves.

They began with B-class dungeons, but it was way too easy for two light yellow core mages.

After some time they shifted to clearing A-Class dungeons, this was a bit harder but still manageable for them.

Time passed by and even A-class dungeons weren't enough for them.

So they decide to try an AA-class dungeon.

They barely cleared it.

By the time they came back, their bodies were riddled with wounds, ranging from bruises to lacerations to even broken bones.

Leaning on each other they were able to reach the adventurers guild in the nearest city.

After informing the receptionist that the AA-class dungeon Savage Point had been cleared, they headed straight for the infirmary.

Needless to say, the emitter, who introduced herself as Eleanor Delaney, was shocked at their condition, and immediately began their treatment.

Even being injured to such a degree didn't discourage them, and as soon as they were completely healed, they entered yet another AA-class dungeon.

This time their wounds were less severe but still dangerous.

Eleanor saw this and this time, she enquired what had happened and why do they get so wounded?

The brothers glanced at each other before Fayden replied, "We soloed an A-class dungeon, these wounds are a byproduct of them."

"A-class dungeon by yourselves?! Are you insane?" She snapped.

"Just a little bit, yeah." Fayden replied, a tint of sarcasm in his voice.

But when she glared at him, he began to cower behind Jaron.

"Don't even think about it." Jaron sidestepped away.

Fayden smiled nervously, "Uh, sorry?"

One whack later, which left Fayden massaging his head, she calmed down enough to speak properly, "Don't be so reckless, make a party with someone. I can't always be there to heal you two."

"Sure mom." Fayden rolled his eyes.

And before she could bash his skull in, he was already out of there.

The two became regulars in the guild, mainly for the infirmary.

Even after multiple warnings, they didn't stop.

So one day Eleanor decided that the only way to keep them from getting injured was joining them in their dungeon dives.

"You what?"

"I want to form a party with you two, you are too reckless. You might not be able to reach the guild every time. Besides, having an emitter in your party will be safer for you." She explained.

"But it will be dangerous for you." Fayden shot back.

"I'm willing to take the risk."

"But I'm not. You could die if you come with us." Fayden remained as stubborn as ever.

"Give her a chance Fayden, if she gets injured then she will not come with us again, but if she stays safe I see no reason for her to not come with us." Jaron spoke for the first time in this conversation.

Fayden pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, "Fine, have it your way."

Thus they teamed up.

But one thing they forgot was that for all Eleanor knew, they were clearing A class dungeons.

So when they go to pick an AA class dungeon...

"I thought you two were clearing A class dungeons?" Eleanor asked.

"We lied." Jaron spoke.

"Wha-Hey!"

"She would have found out either way" He shrugged.

Fayden slumped down, accepting defeat.

"..."

"Ow"

"That hurts Eleanor, Ouch!"

That is how Jaron and Fayden acquired a new part member, one who would be able to keep them in line.

Meanwhile, Ash and Vonde were careful. They didn't have problems with clearing low-class dungeons and they weren't idiots to enter AA-Class dungeons without proper knowledge.

They "teamed up" with some adventurers who had experience in clearing dungeons in certain areas. When clearing high-class dungeons, they always teamed up with a healer just in case.

Being with other adventurers gave brothers the opportunity to gain some contacts that may be helpful in the future, also this made them rise up in the ranks much faster since there was an actual witness of their dives.

1 Year after becoming Adventurers.

The four boys quickly rose in the ranks of adventurers. They became one of the best adventurers on the whole Dicathen and they were deemed to become S-Class Adventurers by many.

But since measuring S-Class Adventurers' strength isn't possible, the guild still couldn't give them S-Class since, by their means, they aren't strong enough.

Besides they were pressured by the Royal Family to not give S-Class rank to those who aren't close to Nobility or Royalty.

But the four adventurers didn't care about this. Since they already had enough income to take care of themselves for the rest of their lives.

Right at this moment, many AA-Class adventurers are gathered in the guild for the announcement.

"I want to thank everyone for coming here, today we have an important announcement. This might be dangerous not only for adventurers but for the whole Kingdom of Sapin." Leader of Xyrus Branch, Kaspian Bladeheart announced and piqued the interest of adventurers.

"There is a danger of S-Class beast escaping from beast glades." Adventurers all tensed up when they heard 'S-Class'.

"Today, we called all of you here to ask for your help for clearing an S-Class Dungeon called Jade pits." After Kaspian said this, the adventurers fell silent.

But soon they start protesting.

"S-Class dungeon?! Most of us will die there!"

"We are only planning to kill the Boss of the dungeon. After successfully killing it we will return to the surface." Kaspian explained, but Adventurers still weren't sure.

"Isn't it better to just block the dungeon?" Some adventurer asked.

"That was the first option that we had in mind, but unfortunately this beast is a fossorial type. It can dig around and create many other routes." Kaspian said.

"Fossorial type... So it probably created many routes, do you even know the exact location when the boss resides? Surely you wouldn't want us to blindly enter some labyrinth of death." Some adventurer asked.

"All routes will be leading towards the boss and since there are a lot of routes we will be splitting into groups of five with a healer in every group." Kaspian explained the strategy, but this was a light explanation before the actual dive.

Adventurers already started choosing their teammates on their own. Meanwhile, while all of this was happening, 3 adventurers were pondering who they should pick.

There weren't many people who they knew, or who they could trust to be in a team with.

Those adventurers were, Jaron, Fayden, and their new acquaintance Eleanor. They have known Eleanor for quite a while, after every dungeon dive they were constantly visiting for healing.

Eleanor was a guild healer and later joined to watch over 2 suicidal maniacs.

"Damn. So who should we pick?" Fayden didn't have trust in adventurers aside from Eleanor.

In Fayden's eyes, all adventurers were weak and most of them were too arrogant and overconfident.

"There's a chance we will find the two brothers here, they were pretty strong and seemed reliable." Jaron suggested.

Fayden perked upon hearing that, because unlike the other adventurers he actually acknowledged their strength.

"Yeah, we need to find them if they are here." Fayden stood up immediately and tried to sense their mana signature.

"I don't remember their mana signature..." Fayden sighed as he sat down again.

"You want to team up with the Half Cold and Half Hot duet of brothers?" Eleanor who maintained silence all this time asked.

"Yeah, we do," Fayden replied.

"They have been staring at you for quite a while now..." Said Eleanor and finally pointed at two brothers.

Both Ash and Vonde were looking at their group.

"They are?, makes it easier." Fayden got up and ran towards them.

"So what do yo-" Before Fayfay could finish, he was interrupted.

"We heard. We would like to team up with you." Said Ash.

"Perfect, now that we have our squad we can inform the guild master and receive a more detailed plan. But I think first of all we need to introduce ourselves." Eleanor stated everyone nodded.

"Since I was the one who suggested this, I will introduce myself first. My name is Eleanor Delaney, I worked in the guild as a healer until I joined these two. So you probably already realized that I'm acquainted with two masochists for some time. It's nice to meet you two, I hope we will get along." With a soft smile, she introduced and melted the hearts of two brothers.

"Hey, we aren't masochists!" Fayden's cries went unheard.

"Nice to meet you, my name is Vonde. Vonde Bourne." With a blush on his face, Vonde barely managed to utter his own name.

"Yeah, nice to meet you. I'm Ash Bourne, my brother and I have been adventurers already for a year and you won't have to bother about our inexperience. I hope we will clear this dungeon and return safely to the surface." Ash introduced while scratching the back of his head, if he was to introduce first he would stutter on every word, but luckily first was his brother.

Meanwhile, Fayden was snickering at them. And Jaron was only staring at them, stoic as ever.

Jaron goes after Eleanor, extending his arm, "My name is Jaron, a pleasure to meet you."

Ash accepts the gesture and nods.

"And I'm Fayden. It's nice to meet ya." Fayden waved, to which Ash responded with a simple nod.

"Now, since we don't have much time, shall we discuss our strengths and weaknesses?" Asked Fayden, no trace of sarcasm or mirth in his voice.

For once, he was truly serious.

"Half of the adventurers decided not to participate in the dive. Now we will begin to plan out actions in the dungeon." Announced Kaspian some of the guild workers brought beast glades map.

The Boss of the dungeon was a fossorial type, because of this, there will be multiple entries in the dungeons and then those entries are divided even in more routes.

Everyone will split up into groups of five with at least one healer and then separate and explore routes on their own.

Routes may be divided even into more parts and not get lost into dungeon adventurers shall leave some kind of mark on the already passed place.

Unfortunately, dungeon beasts weren't fully explored, this means that the guild doesn't exactly know what other types of mana-beasts there would be.

There is no guarantee that routes wouldn't lead you to a whole different dungeon boss.

Meanwhile, our group of 5 people didn't have any problems. They already had a healer and a high-class one at that. 4 elite AA-Class adventurers were also in the same group.

If they won't rush into a fight without any prior knowledge, they have zero problems with clearing the dungeon. Their elements made the perfect combination to fight against the fossorial type of beasts.

In addition to that, except for one member, all of them were proficient in melee fighting. They didn't have problems with long-range spells either.

"Everyone commence!" Yelled out Kaspian and adventurers started entering one of the dungeon entries.

Even Kaspian himself was participating in this dungeon dive.

All adventurers had serious expressions. They were all ready to clear this dungeon.

But...

They weren't ready...

To die...
