Kapitel 6: THE HEARTBREAK

And soon after completing her sentence, Laura walks out of the place leaving Scarlett baffled as well as confused because the statement of Laura seems like a scene from a cult horror movie like Exorcist or Poltergeist and while she was thinking about the same suddenly the clock of her room rings and the time shows as 3:10 AM which makes her realize that it's high time for her to go to sleep

Only for her to open her eyes again at 7 AM drawing curtains away from the windows to feel the sunlight and fresh air opening the windows and soon after getting ready she reaches the office in a hurry as she forgot that she has to reach quickly in office as there was an important meeting because of which she has to reach there by 7:30 rather than 8

And soon after getting the fact she tells the taxi driver to drive as fast as possible as she reads the text from Suzie asking where she was as she was the one who will do the presentation in the meeting and simultaneously she even reaches her office on time as she was just 5 minutes late for which she excuses as the traffic jam which was very common in London

Anyways she completes her presentation and soon walks out of the room as she starts feeling a bit uncomfortable there as it always happens with her after eating human flesh as it takes time to get digested in her system until which she is a little weak

But anyways she takes the office lift to reach the cafe early and have something to feel fine as by eating humans she has also developed some basic habits like them in her, which was to get treated in the same way as normal human get for small issues like vomiting or feeling nausea and many other kinds of stuff which are normal for human beings in daily life

And she calls a waiter to order a coffee and some snacks to change the taste of her taste buds as she is feeling like someone has put a ton of salt in her mouth and that too forcefully

"Your order please", A waiter with shiny brown eyes asks her by standing next to her

"Where is uncle Salmon ?, I mean I haven't seen him from last one week here ?, I heard that he is in hospital, is he fine now ? ", She enquired the waiter in a form of continuous question format

"He is no more madam as he passed away from a heart attack last night in the hospital itself and today is his last rites day", The waiter responds in a slow voice which seems like a bullet which hits Scarlett's thinking with a great velocity as she was left shocked with the fact and was unable to believe it at all

Because he was the only one who became her first friend there within a week after she joined this firm when everyone else behaved as if she was from some other planet and the most shocking thing which hits her was that he was just 45 years old which was very less as compared to the average life span of normal human being which has increased in the years passing by due to the advancement of science

Suddenly his vision starts floating before her eyes as she sees a tall and handsome man who was in his mid-50s and his body structure makes everyone believe that he could have been a wrestler in his younger days because even though humans developed so much right after the creation of the universe, but still the one thing which remained common between them is the class division of rich and poor

As he told her about his struggles in his childhood until he set up this cafe which changed his life as here he met his love Jenny at the age of 30, but unfortunately, she also left him when he was just 40 due to cancer as they cannot afford for the costly treatment

While she was lost in her thoughts suddenly she hears the voice of something falling on the ground which brings her to normalcy and now she asks the waiter about the location of the final rites of uncle Salmon as she also wants to join his last journey towards heaven where he will surely find peace, love, and happiness which he always wanted when he was alive

"St Anthony's crematorium ground", The waiter responds after which she just orders a chocolate bar which was the favorite of uncle Salmon from the counter and leaves the cafe and instead of joining back to work, she goes to her house reasoning her ill health

SAME EVENING

Scarlett reaches the location as told by the waiter and there she sees some of the close friends and family members of uncle Salmon, some of them were teary-eyed whereas some were trying to control their emotions while the pastor was reading the Holy Bible for the assurance that his soul should rest in heaven and peace after he leaves this place called earth and takes his last step towards peace

And after the reading session, uncle Salmon was finally buried beneath the ground along with the coffin in which he was kept for the loved one's of him to have his last glance and suddenly heavy rainfall starts as soon as a drop of tear falls from the left eye of Scarlett which shows the sign that she was in grief

This leaves everyone in shock as it's next to impossible to rain in London and that too in April which was considered as the driest month in London, because of which everyone gets wet in the process of saving themselves from sudden and heavy rainfall

But Scarlett still stands near the tomb of uncle Salmon and starts thinking about all the sweet memories which she had with him and now she takes out the same chocolate from her pocket and keeps it on his tombstone

"I wish that you should have a better life next birth because you were eligible for what you got as you were eligible for even more which never came to your path"
