His mother was seated at the throne room, his father right next to her while his almost bride-to-be stood in a corner of the room, her expression bitter. Xan did not have to think too much about what could have happened. The only thing that surprised him was how fast Aria had gone to his mother and confessed everything. Kai and Lun followed, standing a few steps behind him. 

The queen did not say anything, she looked at the three of them, head to toe with a harsh look, judgemental as she was thinking about what to say. 

"You embarrassed us, Xan." she stated and the crown prince felt his heart race. He wasn't prepared for this. He wasn't ready to stand in front of his mother, the queen as she sat in her bloody throne, all the lights of the room shining on him, cold, all eyes on him as they waited for something to happen. 

"I assure you that was not my intention. I can not marry someone I do not love. Mother, father I…"
