Kapitel 42: Chapter 42: Are You Sad?

The creature springs off its hind legs.

Ambrose draws his sword and slices into the beast's upper shoulder, stopping the blade short of the chest cavity.

Quickly, he pulls the weapon from the corpse of the dead creature.

A second animal circles, stalking its prey, Ambrose. From a crouched position, the beast lunges.

"Nay." Mercy bares her teeth. "He is mine to deal with."

She shoves Ambrose out of the way, driving the tip of the spear into the beast's chest.

It utters a forlorn cry then lays motionless at the end of the weapon.

Behind Ambrose, a fight breaks out between gargouilles and humans.

The hellhounds join in. They don't select a side. Instead, the four-legged beasts attack anything or anyone standing on two legs.

In the distance, he spies Braylin and a guard in battle.

More beasts leap off the wall and converge as a single unit.
