"It happened because you saved my life?" he asked. 

"In a way, yes. The correct answer is because I took out the poison I gave you," I said. 

'We take, but don't give,' Azure's had said to me once. 

"I am not to give life, Dem. I am to take. I am not to take the poison I gave you. My poison is supposed to kill anyone who is not of my bloodline. If I take the poison from someone's blood, it not only saves their life but also gives them a long life, which makes them half mortal. I am not supposed to do that. It's like I am being punished and warned. My power to control werewolves was taken away and instead, I am given the power to control animals."

Dem slid his hand to the back of my neck and pulled my face closer. He pressed our foreheads together as he let out a sigh.
