Kapitel 54: By The Power Vested In Me

In a flash of white light, the earth beneath me erupted like a volcano, magma and ash being thrown up into the air as my barely controlled second form began to spiral in the thermal drafts. Burning air that would normally peel skin whirled around me as I put some distance between myself and the devastation.

Turning around my eyes widened in awe at the pure power of the barrage Astaros had unleashed in his final attack. The earth look as though it had been gouged out by a wayward strike from the goddesses, bleeding molten lava from every crevice as it exhaled dying breaths of ash and soot.

This was what it meant to fight him at full strength huh…

'Where is the one who called me forth?' {C̸̡̭͈̤̫̗͋́͋̂̀͗͑̓̕̚͝h̴̜̘͓͓̫̮͐̌̀̓̐͜͜r̸͓͊̑̈́͆̾͂͆̓͑͗͘ĩ̴̼̩̭̿̄͊̃͂̌̏͆̕͝ș̵̢͚̗͙̘͐̿͒́͆̓̾̉͜t̴̡͙̯͚͕̥͔̝̣̻̖̣̻̺̲͐̂̚i̷̡̡͙͚̠̳͙̮͉̺̺̭͗́̐n̴̡̡̢̢̞͙̟̣̮̎͝ë̵̢̛̖͎̥̗̤͓͍́͋̎̒͂͗̀̎̌̚͝?̷̢̙͉͍̯͚͈͖̯̐̈̉̑̀̂͠?̵̘͉̺͇̰͎̯̮̲̜̮̦̯̱̇͊͊͌̎̇͋͐͋͌̕ͅ?̷̤͇̫̿̐̀̋̆̅̇͐͘}

'Wait thats actually a good question.' {Christine}

"ASTAROOOOSSS!!!" {C̸̡̭͈̤̫̗͋́͋̂̀͗͑̓̕̚͝h̴̜̘͓͓̫̮͐̌̀̓̐͜͜r̸͓͊̑̈́͆̾͂͆̓͑͗͘ĩ̴̼̩̭̿̄͊̃͂̌̏͆̕͝ș̵̢͚̗͙̘͐̿͒́͆̓̾̉͜t̴̡͙̯͚͕̥͔̝̣̻̖̣̻̺̲͐̂̚i̷̡̡͙͚̠̳͙̮͉̺̺̭͗́̐n̴̡̡̢̢̞͙̟̣̮̎͝ë̵̢̛̖͎̥̗̤͓͍́͋̎̒͂͗̀̎̌̚͝?̷̢̙͉͍̯͚͈͖̯̐̈̉̑̀̂͠?̵̘͉̺͇̰͎̯̮̲̜̮̦̯̱̇͊͊͌̎̇͋͐͋͌̕ͅ?̷̤͇̫̿̐̀̋̆̅̇͐͘}

I screamed at the top of my lungs with only sizzling winds being my response.

'Can you whistand the winds and heat?' {Christine}

'For a moment. We must take haste in our efforts to find father.' {C̸̡̭͈̤̫̗͋́͋̂̀͗͑̓̕̚͝h̴̜̘͓͓̫̮͐̌̀̓̐͜͜r̸͓͊̑̈́͆̾͂͆̓͑͗͘ĩ̴̼̩̭̿̄͊̃͂̌̏͆̕͝ș̵̢͚̗͙̘͐̿͒́͆̓̾̉͜t̴̡͙̯͚͕̥͔̝̣̻̖̣̻̺̲͐̂̚i̷̡̡͙͚̠̳͙̮͉̺̺̭͗́̐n̴̡̡̢̢̞͙̟̣̮̎͝ë̵̢̛̖͎̥̗̤͓͍́͋̎̒͂͗̀̎̌̚͝?̷̢̙͉͍̯͚͈͖̯̐̈̉̑̀̂͠?̵̘͉̺͇̰͎̯̮̲̜̮̦̯̱̇͊͊͌̎̇͋͐͋͌̕ͅ?̷̤͇̫̿̐̀̋̆̅̇͐͘}

'Father?' {Christine}

The violets pupils of my dark form dilated as it stared into the burning split in the earth, a smile adorning my face.

'His aura awakened me, without him we would have been slaughtered by the weakling.'

{C̸̡̭͈̤̫̗͋́͋̂̀͗͑̓̕̚͝h̴̜̘͓͓̫̮͐̌̀̓̐͜͜r̸͓͊̑̈́͆̾͂͆̓͑͗͘ĩ̴̼̩̭̿̄͊̃͂̌̏͆̕͝ș̵̢͚̗͙̘͐̿͒́͆̓̾̉͜t̴̡͙̯͚͕̥͔̝̣̻̖̣̻̺̲͐̂̚i̷̡̡͙͚̠̳͙̮͉̺̺̭͗́̐n̴̡̡̢̢̞͙̟̣̮̎͝ë̵̢̛̖͎̥̗̤͓͍́͋̎̒͂͗̀̎̌̚͝?̷̢̙͉͍̯͚͈͖̯̐̈̉̑̀̂͠?̵̘͉̺͇̰͎̯̮̲̜̮̦̯̱̇͊͊͌̎̇͋͐͋͌̕ͅ?̷̤͇̫̿̐̀̋̆̅̇͐͘}

I see.

'Then what do you plan to do when we find him?' {Christine

'My instincts have offered me two options. Serve or flee. You wish to love him do you not? Then I will compromise and serve my father. However my instincts tell me to fly as far east as the winds will take me. They tell me I should claw my way through earth, sea and sky to escape this being. For he is unnatural.'

{C̸̡̭͈̤̫̗͋́͋̂̀͗͑̓̕̚͝h̴̜̘͓͓̫̮͐̌̀̓̐͜͜r̸͓͊̑̈́͆̾͂͆̓͑͗͘ĩ̴̼̩̭̿̄͊̃͂̌̏͆̕͝ș̵̢͚̗͙̘͐̿͒́͆̓̾̉͜t̴̡͙̯͚͕̥͔̝̣̻̖̣̻̺̲͐̂̚i̷̡̡͙͚̠̳͙̮͉̺̺̭͗́̐n̴̡̡̢̢̞͙̟̣̮̎͝ë̵̢̛̖͎̥̗̤͓͍́͋̎̒͂͗̀̎̌̚͝?̷̢̙͉͍̯͚͈͖̯̐̈̉̑̀̂͠?̵̘͉̺͇̰͎̯̮̲̜̮̦̯̱̇͊͊͌̎̇͋͐͋͌̕ͅ?̷̤͇̫̿̐̀̋̆̅̇͐͘}

Though these words unnerved me I was confident that Astaros wasn't dangerous to us. My other half dove into the burning heat as we passed through the burnt carbon corpse of the forest, ash and sparks scalding our skin.

As we neared the center of the destruction gravity began to fluctuate, the earth warping as we finally came to a stop.

'I can go no further than this. A presence greater than you, I, father and the abomination now resides here.'

{C̸̡̭͈̤̫̗͋́͋̂̀͗͑̓̕̚͝h̴̜̘͓͓̫̮͐̌̀̓̐͜͜r̸͓͊̑̈́͆̾͂͆̓͑͗͘ĩ̴̼̩̭̿̄͊̃͂̌̏͆̕͝ș̵̢͚̗͙̘͐̿͒́͆̓̾̉͜t̴̡͙̯͚͕̥͔̝̣̻̖̣̻̺̲͐̂̚i̷̡̡͙͚̠̳͙̮͉̺̺̭͗́̐n̴̡̡̢̢̞͙̟̣̮̎͝ë̵̢̛̖͎̥̗̤͓͍́͋̎̒͂͗̀̎̌̚͝?̷̢̙͉͍̯͚͈͖̯̐̈̉̑̀̂͠?̵̘͉̺͇̰͎̯̮̲̜̮̦̯̱̇͊͊͌̎̇͋͐͋͌̕ͅ?̷̤͇̫̿̐̀̋̆̅̇͐͘}

'We don't need to go any further.' {Christine

At the center of the warped area a glowing white silhouette of Astaros piercing Aurora with his sword shone brightly, his presence and her aura cascading from the center in waves. However there was something else mixed in. Something that chilled me to my core. It sent shivers down my spine. My physical constitution was at risk here. If I stayed here I would suffer some form of damage.

Permanently.

'That's enough. We're leaving and we have to tell the others about this.' {Christine}

I took one last look at the blinding silhouette, uneasiness filling me as I turned and flew up into the ash-ridden sky.

'Be safe, Astaros' {Christine}

POV: Astaros

____________

I was back in a familiar yet different place.

An empty white world, tomes floating around me as I was drawn to a single spot.

A chunk of earth with a throne upon it, a twisted tree growing from its frame. Thousands of books and scrolls made up its leaves as the throne slowly turned to face me.

Upon the throne sat a woman, long, curly dark green hair exploding from her head as it seemed to float and undulate. Amber eyes scanned me up and down as I approached, a monocle sitting on her left eye while a small scar ran from the bottom eyelid to her cheek.

She wore a brown dress that was plain to the eye but that only accentuated the presence she held.

This was a goddess.

'Correct' {???}

Her mouth nor eyes moved yet her voice spoke within my mind. She waved her hand as slowly a body began to take form, resembling my physical likeness as armor began to encase it.

Suddenly my perspective changed as I was thrust inside this construct.

'You seemed uncomfortable without physical form. I will grant you one within my domain.' {???}

She seemed polite enough but I shouldn't allow my thoughts to wander. This was a goddess's domain. I am as exposed as exposed can be.

A light smirk crept across her face as she looked deep into me, her eyes attempting to bore into my very soul.

So I flared my divinity in response, burning away any trace of her gaze.

Her smile disappeared as she sat back in her chair, as though uninterested once more. Was she attempting to see into my past?

'Indeed I was. While I couldn't tell much I could see you are much older than I. And I am the oldest among my sisters.' {???}

She smiled again, something seeming to amuse her as she reached for a book before stopping.

'Ah! I forgot to introduce myself. I am Lidya, the goddess of script and knowledge. And I am here to see to it you understand what you have done.' {Lidya}

A green book floated down into her hand as it's cover opened and the pages began to flip at an incredible pace before stopping in on a particular section.

Its title read, Laws of the world .

'Have I broken a fundamental law of the world?' {Astaros}

If I could talk my way out of this I would. I had no need to fight the divine realm at the moment.

And especially not the oldest of their number.

An eyebrow on her face raised as she looked at me before the expression disappeared as quickly as it came.

'You are certainly interesting I'll give you that. And yes you did break a law. And a rather unreasonable one at that. You broke the law of my script. Your existence has caused a mistake.' {Lidya}

'Aurora. She wasn't supposed to die by my hand was she.' {Astaros}

The woman nodded as a glittering lights came flying from the tree and its branches. They began to amalgamate, slowly forming a body. An unmistakable face was formed in the light as I scowled.

It was her.

'Ira made a promise to bring her a loved one. Someone she would come into a relationship with. And Ira settled on you. A gods promise is unbreakable so she used the laws of this world to her advantage and gambled on what I could not predict nor have the script interact with. She is placing Aurora at your side as her own personal pawn. And neither your nor I can stop it, lest we tear the world apart. The only thing you can do at this point is fulfill the conditions and kill her after. Or find a loophole and change her fate. The choice is up to you.' {Lidya}

If I could sigh I would. All that for nothing.

Or perhaps I had gained something.

'If you ever become a player on this little board we have, feel free to tip the scales. I have become bored with this stagnation that has taken over.' {Lidya}

She smiled as I my mind began to clear of all thoughts.

Her hand waved as my body and aurora's began to fade.

'I look forward to watching and learning from you, Astaros Systin' {Lidya}

I reopened my eyes to the sight of… ANCIENT EARTH!?!

I instantly put a pure mana field as the scorching heat began to burn around me and the seemingly unconscious body of Aurora.

Picking her up and placing her in my arms I took a look around as my mind whirred with questions.

No.

I can't be on earth because mana works here.

I can't have gone back to that waste.

My eyes scanned the disaster scape as I began to analyze my situation.

The gravity here was unstable at best and out right inverted or warped at worst. However one thing still stood clear.

This was the site of the firing of Overload.

Last time I fired this skill up and it harmlessly beamed into the atmosphere.

Here?

I shot it straight into the ground.

And the level of power my strongest skill had was now revealed to me. Although to be fair the influx from my sudden mana overflow had added to it.

Looking closer I could see dark imprints in the ground of Lydia knows what, that had once existed here.

This was the carbon carcass of a thriving forest. I wiped it clean in an instant. If ever I have a different solution I shouldn't resort to such a skill of mass destruction every time I need to finish a job.

Or I should at least be careful where I aim.

I then closed my eyes as I searched the soul link for Fillia and the others. Hopefully they weren't collateral in all this.

My fears however were unfounded as I picked up on their location quite quickly.

Wind gathered under my feet as I cradled the unconscious Aurora.

It's time to return home.
