Kapitel 47: Funeral

The gray and cloudy evening sky as well as the cold wind that blew from the north suggested a heavy drop of rainfall, a warning ignored by everyone gathered around a small portion of the cemetery. It's mostly quiet except for the chime of a church bell somewhere in the distance, echoing its melancholy tune across the graveyard.

A young priest stood before the small crowd surrounding a grave in a semicircle, with the Murphys lined upfront. They all wore black similarly to the sympathizers behind them. A long black dress hung at Barbara's ankles and a suit on Robert. Despite her efforts to shield her exhausted eyes with a fascinator, they bore a look that could break anyone's heart. Edna's eyes are teary even as she tries to comfort her alongside Robert. It all proved to be futile shortly after the priest began.
