Nash held his beast in an iron grip. Keeping his eyes human was a struggle, but Arlo found the amber scary, and Nash knew he only had this one chance. If Arlo rejected him now, he’d lose his grip on his human part, and the beast would take over.

He hoped Gilbert killed him before he hurt too many.

“I’m not sure it’s a good idea.” Arlo’s voice was one step behind a whisper, but the words stung nonetheless. Most guys would jump at a chance of Nash making things up to them, he had quite a reputation in this town, but he doubted Arlo would want to hear about it.

Nash groaned against the skin on Arlo’s neck and hugging him closer. “If I tie you to the bed and have my way with you anyway, would you be awfully angry with me?” Nash had meant it as a joke, but Arlo tensed in his arms. “Joking, love, I was joking.”
