Kapitel 49: Chapter 49

First there was Ortega in all his glory, his military uniform adding glitter to the importance of the hour. He boasted how the ‘assassin’ was being rehabilitated and what a wonderful program they had developed to deal with criminals. Then the picture changed to Cam, seated behind a table. Her drab clothing was quite a contrast to the president’s. She wore a plain cotton blouse with a rounded neck; no collar. Her hair was longer and shaggy and her face was thin and drawn. The tone of her voice as she read was monotone and unenthusiastic. Her statement praised El Presidente for giving her the opportunity to live. On the table was a newspaper, proving that this was filmed within the last forty-eight hours.
