“I cannot wait to see you, man. I’ve been such a complete ass. I’m surprised you’re still talking to me, and that you haven’t moved on or are dating someone.” RJ shook his head, angry at himself for what he did, how he screwed up. “You’re not dating anyone are you, Pad? Because if you are, just tell me. I won’t bother you anymore. It’ll kill me. But, I owe you that much for what I’ve done.”

Pad’s eyes were down, and he shook his head. His voice wavered when he answered. “No, I’m not dating anyone.”

Man, I’m pretty lucky

“Will you promise me then, just so I don’t go crazy here in this Godforsaken place that you won’t then? You’ll wait for me to make it up to you? In person?”

“There’s nothing to make up for, RJ. Everything’s cool. What’s in the past is in the past. Nothing for you to worry about. Nothing at all.”

RJ smiled. “Hey, it’s getting late. I love you, Pad. I’ll talk to you soon.”

Pad responded. “Love you, too, RJ. See you soon.”
