“It’s not an uncommon name.”

“No, of course not.” I picked up the folder and forced myself to thumb through it. “According to these records, he has no family.”

“Aye. And that should make him perfect for what I’ve in mind for him. He was taken in by a distant relation after he’d been orphaned at an early age. According to his mates, he still refers to her as ‘the old bat.’”

“Ah. No love lost?”

“None at all. She chucked him out the very day he turned fifteen. He joined up as a Junior Marine as soon as he turned sixteen.” He stabbed a blunt finger at one of the photographs that was included. “Have a look at this.”

“Are you going into the sideline of pimping out pretty boys?” The photograph was in black and white, but that did nothing to disguise his astonishing good looks.

“Of course not.” Then he added, “He’s not a boy.”

“No, you’re correct.” His age was listed as twenty-six. He was six feet tall, weighed thirteen stone eight, and hair and eyes were both given as brown.
