Kapitel 23: Chapter 23

We took a suite in a hotel, and shopped for gifts for Jamie.

“Oh, I say,” Jeremy whispered as we browsed the aisles, which were filled with all manner of items. At home, the shops were still fairly empty, although Jeremy had managed to find a red double-decker London bus.

“Yes.” I ran a finger over a pewter figurine of an Arabian. “Do you think Jamie will like this?”

“If he’s as horse-mad as you? Indubitably. Let’s get him the accompanying stable, shall we?”

“Splendid idea.”

With the gifts purchased, I hired a car and drove us to Mr Kendall’s estate. I was perspiring profusely by the time we arrived.

“These people drive like lunatics!” Not only did they drive on the wrong side of the road, but the steering wheel was on the wrong side of the car!

Jeremy chuckled and patted my thigh, but a glance at him revealed a pale countenance.

I parked the car in the drive, and we got out and approached the front door.
