The next few days passed without trouble for Matthew, his Magitek Drones are making steady Progress in the Room of Hidden Things, although they did not found anything major yet. At least he gained a few interesting notes depicting Spell and Potion Research he didn't think of yet. Like an alternative version of the levitation spell, instead of like the standard Version which was basically lifting an Object with an invisible magic hand, this one was based on Gravity manipulation.
They found the notes in a schoolbook used in 1604. This Spell was developed by a Hogwarts Student, his final target was to fly. He based his ideas on the research of Jarleth Hobart who also wanted to fly and invented the Levitation Charm in 1544. Interestingly the Student whose name he didn't know realized the existence of Gravity. A Wizard, a Student discovered Gravity good 80 years before Newton published Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica. But that were the only unexpected gains yet, still, the basics of manipulating Gravity with magic would be useful.
While his Lessons this year were mostly unspectacular. The only ones that were of interest to him were Transfiguration, in which they were currently studying Cross-Species-Switches, and Ancient Runes. Cross-Species-Switches may sound unspectacular but transfiguring another Human into a Ferret or Pig also fell into that category, and that piqued Matthew's interest. How did it work? After all, it was pretty much a feat of Reality Bending. Malfoy seemed to be aware of who he was when the fake Moody turned him into a Ferret and kept his Memories of that Event. How was that possible? After all Human and Ferret Physiology was completely different. So Matthew spent his time in Transfiguration analyzing and finding the Truth to these Questions. He had no Problem completing this kind of Spells after all he was already further ahead. At this point all he could improve on where his Understanding and Mastery.
In Ancient Runes, they would have to complete a Rune Enchantment Project as an Exam this year which they had time to complete over the whole year. Matthew had no Problem completing that task he rather was unsure of what he should do. He didn't want to hand over just anything, but also nothing too advanced. So he was still in the middle of his brainstorming phase.
He still kept working on Potions and created new ones all the time, some of them he sold and added them to his income. But he limited himself to 2 or 3 a year and nothing too groundbreaking since he didn't want to gain unwanted attention. The Problem was he reached a low in his progress. He could create many Potions but none of them were majorly useful for him. While Something like improving his Body permanently or a complex Problem like curing Lycantrophy was out of his grasp and he had no idea how to solve it.
~ Scene Break ~
On Saturday as he was following his usual Workout Routine he was joined by the Gryffindor Team at the Quidditch training Grounds where he normally worked out.
"Hey Guys, how are you? So Wood you make them train even earlier than usual this year?" greeted Matthew while he tried to hold back his snicker as he watched the tired Gryffindor Team in their red Quidditch Robes.
"Matthew! Are you hear to spy on us?" asked Wood with suspicion.
"Why would I be here to spy on you? I was first here. Are you here to Spy on me?" retorted Matthew.
The Twins couldn't keep their laughter at that Comment. While Woods's mouth dropped open at that retort unsure of how to reply.
"Don't worry Wood. I have no interest in your training Strategy. Just here for my regular workout routine that I follow every morning. This is the time I always train to keep myself fit." Explained Matthew while deciding to prank Wood, "And even if I wanted to spy on you I don't need to. Your secret plan is Probably something like harder, earlier and longer. Am I right?" he asked as he looked at the rest of the team who all couldn't hold their laughter now.
"We can share the field I will keep at that side and won't disturb you. Are you fine with that? I like fairness so I won't share anything ok?"
"Fine…" Sighed Wood as he turned to his team and began their Training. He pushed the Gryffindor literally through the mud. After a while, they were joined by Ron and Hermione who also got accused as Spy by Wood, after getting stared down by her as if he was an Idiot he had no choice but to accept her presence. They just came from Breakfast and wanted to see how Harry was doing.
*Click**Click**Click* resounded over the Quidditch Field. And there was Colin Creevey taking Pictures of Harry. Matthew could see how pissed Wood was. But the Gryffindor Captain didn't get far in accusing the oblivious Fan Boy as a Slytherin Spy.
"The Slytherins don't need a spy, Oliver," said George.
"What makes you say that?" said Wood testily.
"Because they're here in person," said George, pointing.
Several people in green robes were walking onto the field, broomsticks in their hands.
"I don't believe it!" Wood hissed in outrage. "I booked the field for today! We'll see about this!"
Wood shot toward the ground, landing rather harder than he meant to in his anger, staggering slightly as he dismounted. Harry, Fred, and George followed. While Matthew watched that spectacle from the Side it after all had nothing to do with him yet.
"Flint!" Wood bellowed at the Slytherin Captain. "This is our practice time! We got up specially! You can clear off now!"
Marcus Flint was even larger than Wood. He had a look of trollish cunning on his face as he replied, "Plenty of room for all of us, Wood."
Angelina, Alicia, and Katie had come over, too. There were no girls on the Slytherin team, who stood shoulder to shoulder, facing the Gryffindors, leering to a man.
"But I booked the field!" said Wood, positively spitting with rage. "I booked it!"
And the Situation continued to further escalate as Malfoy got introduced as the new Seeker of the Slytherin Team thanks to a generous donation from his father. Ron and Hermione also joined them in order to find out what was happening.
"I'm the new Slytherin Seeker, Weasley," said Malfoy, smugly. "Everyone's just been admiring the brooms my father's bought our team.
Ron gaped, open-mouthed, at the seven superb broomsticks in front of him. And Malfoy continued to mock him as Hermione interjected.
"At least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in," said Hermione sharply. "They got in on pure talent."
The smug look on Malfoy's face flickered.
"No one asked your opinion, you filthy little Mudblood," he spat.
This was the moment the whole Situation escalated completely and Matthew realized his Mistake. Originally he wanted to Curse Malfoy secretly as punishment. 'Shit Ron's Wand isn't broken. This is bad!' He hurried in their direction realizing how ugly it could become.
While he headed their way he watched how Ron's Curse impacted Malfoy and the Blond Racist began to spit out Snails. This was obviously an insult the Slytherins couldn't let sit on them and Curses began to fly between both Groups. Luckily Matthew was already close enough.
With a wave of his Wand, a Blue Glowing Barrier made of Hexagonal layered Shields appeared between both Groups and blocked the Barrage of their Spells. And no moment too late, from the side of the Slytherin Students he recognized some rather dark ones like a bone-breaking Curse. The Sudden Appearance of the Shield made both sides stop slightly confused while Hermione was visibly relieved.
"Are you done you idiots?" asked Matthew with a dangerous tone in his voice.
"Who do you think you are Mudblood?" asked Warrington his 'Rival' as he raised his Wand against Matthew.
Matthew with a quick motion stunned him with a silently cast Stunning Charm. "That Idiot never learns… Anybody else?" asked Matthew as he stared down at the Slytherin Students.
