Kapitel 19: Birthday Gift
Gwen goes to a mirror and looks at her reflection and pulls her eyelids a little, probably checking to see if she was wearing contact lenses, not finding the lenses, she turns to me, and says, "Jon, you know how this It happened?".
"I don't know, I just brought you home, and you slept for almost a whole day," I said, pretending to be confused as well.
Listening to what I said, she sighed, said, "there's nothing to do then, I'll go to the doctor later, to see if there's anything wrong".
And so she went again, towards her wardrobe, when she went to open the wardrobe door, she yanked the door out of the place, seeing that, she was shocked again.
Seeing what she did, I said, "Gwen, it looks like there's something wrong with you, I don't think that's normal."
Still holding the wardrobe door in her hand, Gwen looked at me and said, "What's going on, is this a prank of you?"
"Unfortunately not, but it's a good idea, I'll write it down for later"
A little annoyed by what I said, she said, "Jon, this isn't funny, there's something wrong with me."
"Well, it's not that bad, you don't have a problem with your eyes anymore, and you've gotten stronger," I said trying to reassure her.
Looking a little calmer, she tried to let go of the door she was holding, but she couldn't, so she shook her hand a few times, and said, "why don't you let go of my hand."
Coming close to Gwen, I take her arm, I say, "Calm down, relax, maybe like this, let the door go, out of your hand."
Taking a deep breath and calming down, the door falls from her hand, seeing what has come loose, she looks at me and says, "thank you Jon".
Again she looks at the wardrobe, only now with no door, she reaches over to a shelf, and takes a small box, and hands it to me, and she says, "It's your birthday present, I hope you like it"
Opening the box, there was a necklace, with a black stone, attached to a leather strap, looking at a part of the necklace, I see a small magnet, a little confused, I ask Gwen, "why is there a magnet?"
With a flushed face, she replies, "I don't know, I haven't seen that."
I found her reaction a little strange, but I won't press the question, I don't want you to think I didn't like the gift.
Placing the necklace around my neck, I look at her and say, "let's test it, see if anything else has changed on you."
"What do you mean to test?", she spoke a little confused.
Not answering her, I went over to her study table, grabbed an eraser, and threw it at a relatively high speed, and as I expected, she caught it, easily.
A little amazed at what happened, Gwen said, "how did I do that?, and how did you know I could get it?"
Laughing I said, "I didn't know, but I have a theory".
"What a theory," Gwen said, a little excited to maybe find out what happened.
"My theory is that you gained powers, from the spider's bite, I know it may sound ridiculous, but probably the spider that bit you was a spider that escaped, from your glass, in Oscorp's laboratory."
Making a confused face, Gwen said, "but why would the spider bite give me powers?"
"About that, I think I know why."
"Then why?" she said, with a face eager for the answer.
"I know, Oscorp was researching the super soldier serum, this spider that bit you, must be one of the prototypes that got away."
Listening to what I said, she made a face, as if understanding, that what I said is probably what happened"
"Now that we know what probably happened, come with me, I know a place we can test your powers."
And so we headed towards my car, to go to the place, to test Gwen's powers.
