67.01% Hey, Why Are My Skills so Weird!? / Chapter 128: Celers (2)

Kapitel 128: Celers (2)

As we headed to the next class, I could not resist my curiosity regarding Sylvia and the celers.

"Sylvia, do you know them?" I asked.

"Of course not." She replied while rolling her eyes. "First time seeing them. They know me, though."

Andrew and Ley were startled.

"They know you? What do you mean?" Ley asked curiously.

Sylvia just smiled mysteriously and did not reply.

Neither Ley nor Andrew understood the meaning of her smile, however, I got an inkling of what she meant.

I found it strange when my mother told me that people from other races were coming as exchange students. It was my first time hearing something like that.

Plus, there is nothing they can learn from us. It sounds pathetic, but the truth is that when it comes to knowledge about mana, combat techniques, and everything related, humanity is far behind the invader races.

I think I know the reason why they came now, though.

'Are they here due to Sylvia?'

[That is possible.] The demon replied disinterestedly.

But if that was true, then it meant that Sylvia's identity was that important!

At that moment, a wild guess appeared in my mind.

Could it be, her father…?

No, but if that is true, then…

I glanced at Sylvia with a thoughtful expression. Feeling my gaze, she looked back at me and smiled slightly.

Should I ask her?

I hesitated briefly before deciding not to.

Anyway, the identity of her family doesn't matter. I don't want her to think that we are friends only because of her family.

[You should be staying away from her, not becoming her friend.]

… Anyway, if she wants, she will tell me someday.

As I was lost in my thoughts, the next class started.

The next class was 'Laws Regarding Awakened I'. It was a boring class dictated by a middle-aged and was about the special rights and duties of Awakened.

Even though the class was boring, I needed to pay attention to it. I didn't want to commit a crime involuntarily due to using my abilities where I could not.

However, I was unable to focus during class.

The entire time, I was thinking about Sylvia's background.

Eventually, the class came to an end. To my dismay, I did not remember anything the teacher said and I did not take notes either.

Sigh… I can only ask my sister.

"Ley, can you lend me your notes later?"

My sister was startled by my request.

"How unusual… Were you not paying attention, brother?"

I smiled wryly and nodded.

"Sorry, I could not focus on today's class."

"Me neither," Andrew interjected from the seat behind me. "I was thinking about the celers the entire time."

Ley frowned before sighing.

"Okay, but you must pay attention next time, brother."

"Yes, mom."

"Brother!"

Andrew and I laughed at Ley's incensed reaction.

"You sure have a good relationship," Sylvia said after seeing our interaction. "I feel a bit envious of it."

"We are friends since we were kids, after all." I shrugged.

"What about you, Sylvia? Don't you have friends too?" Ley asked.

"Mmm... Does Jane count?"

Andrew, Ley, and I stiffened.

"Could it be… You don't have any friends?" I could not help but ask.

Sylvia giggled. "Well, I never had the opportunity to make friends before. I have a younger sister the same age as me, though. She and I can be considered friends."

Andrew, Ley, and I looked at each other with subtle expressions.

So Sylvia is a loner, huh?

She really doesn't look like it. Really.

She is so extroverted that I never suspected I was her first friend.

… Now I feel a bit bad about the fact I was trying to avoid her.

Just at that moment, we heard a commotion outside the classroom.

"Hey, someone challenged the Celers to a duel!"

"Is that true?"

"I heard it was a sophomore. They are going to fight in the west arena."

"Hurry up. Let's watch!"

We looked at each other when we heard the words coming from outside.

"Let's watch too," I suggested, and the others nodded.

...

Sanctuary's First Awakened College had a total of five arenas. Four of them were located in the four cardinal directions, and the last and biggest arena, located at the center of the campus, was called the central arena.

The place where the duel between the sophomore and the celer was going to happen was in the west arena.

This place was seldom used unless there was an event that required it; but now, the arena was crowded with students.

Andrew, Sylvia, Ley, and I had to struggle to find a place to watch the battle.

"Hey, here!" Someone suddenly called out to us. "Sylvia, Andrew, Jane, Ley! Here!"

We followed the voice and saw one of our classmates, Lara, waving at us from a stand.

"There are seats here! Come over!"

As Lara said, there were a couple of seats left around her. We also noticed that several of our classmates were seated here too.

In fact, I saw everybody but Hela.

"You are just in time. The battle is about to start!" Lara exclaimed excitedly. "It's my first time seeing a celer fight!"

We looked in the direction of the stage, only to see a glasses-wearing student standing opposite a celer with whitish skin.

"Who is the student fighting the celer?" Andrew asked.

"I heard he is called Gerald. He was third during the entrance examination last year." Theodore, who was seated nearby, replied.

"He looks strong." Ley opined.

Andrew and the others nodded.

However, I did not.

Because although the sophomore facing the celer certainly seemed calm and strong, my senses were telling me something completely different.

That celer was much stronger.

So strong that I thought he could kill me instantly if we fought.
