Kapitel 25: Make-up Goddess

The ride into the office was quite between Aaron and I. We both where still inwardly fuming at what we had listened to on the news. Despite how much I didn't like getting bashed on, I could only look at this as an opportunity to blow everyone out of the water. To do that, we needed to offer a sneak peek. I was determined to get the positive results we needed. Celestia was still in town as well for the show this weekend. So, if I could sneak her for a short modeling job to show off our designs, then we could totally pull off this show.

Entering the elevator shaft that brought us up to our offices, I gripped my hands tightly. I leaned against the elevator and shut my eyes, trying to fight away the throbbing headache that seemed to echo and bounce off the inside of my cranium. When closing my eyes didn't work, I pinched the bridge of my nose, trying to elevate the pressure. I heard a soft chuckle come from Aaron's direction and I shot him a dirty glare.

"I guess you won't ever drink what Bastion orders again." His smile was forced, but the teasing tone was genuine. I rolled my eyes, wincing as the elevator lights hit my pupils. I groaned and leaned my head against the cool elevator wall, shutting my eyes again.

"Like I tried to tell you two assholes last night, I am getting too old to be drinking like that. I should have ignored Bastion's damn childlike pleading and left you two at the bar." I grumbled angrily as the elevator door opened. The cool air rushed over my face, making my body shiver.

"I was honestly surprised how much you could handle before Bastion even tapped out. You must have been a real thrill in college." Aaron teased again. I scoffed, rubbing my head with my fingers, trying to fight off the wave of nausea I felt after thinking about last night's game of 'Who Can Handle More'. The elevator door closed, cutting off the freezing air.

"I was surprised too. But I tell you what, I really regret it today. It hurts worse now than when I smashed my head off the steering wheel." I groaned. Aaron chuckled, but gently patted me on the shoulder, reassuring me that it was going to be okay. We stood quietly as the elevator quietly hummed as it carried us up the building. I kept leaning against the cool wall, minding my own business until a hand brushed hairs from my face.

I casually opened my eyes, expecting it to be Aaron, but was I wrong. Damien was standing close, his body almost touching mine as his worried gaze passed over my face. Shocked, I quickly stood tall. Instantly I regretted it as I quickly became dizzy and pitched forward. I braced both of my hands on his chest, catching myself before I completely fell on him. I stifled a groan as I tried to right myself and hide the embarrassment that encompassed my being. Aaron couldn't help but snicker at my helplessness as I tried to smooth out my dress.

"Sorry, I hadn't realized you were standing so close." I muttered. I didn't want him to see how flushed I was becoming at his near presence. The warmth of his body was rolling off in waves, and my heat starved body was craving the heat he was giving off. He gently smiled as he righted me by holding my shoulders.

"Don't get flustered over this. From what I understand, you three had quite the night." He said and the elevator doors opened once more. He quickly released me, letting me stand on my own two feet as he casually made his way out of the small close proximity. Aaron and I walked quickly behind him as the door began to shut.

"Although, I ask that next time you go out, invite me too. I'd like to see how the 'Big Three' act together when they can't see straight." Damien mused as we made our way through the busy floor. Neither one of us made a comment or a reply as we dodged flustered co-workers. I knit my eyebrows together, trying to figure out what the big commotion was all about. I wasn't buddies with everyone on the main office floor, but I wasn't used to being ignored either.

I grew more amused as we made our way to Bastion's office, trying to decipher why everyone was in such a state of chaos. Damien seemed unphased as he kept his head forward as he walked. Something told me he had a part in the chaos that erupted from every corner of the office. Excited shouts and papers rustling filled the air. I almost felt suffocated as I was pushed sideways against Aaron. Hangover mixed with injuries wasn't the greatest feeling.

Sensing my silent unease, Damien peaked a glance back as Aaron righted me. Offering out his hand, he pushed me gently in front of him, keeping one hand out casually as to ward off the busy workers. I didn't want to accept his help, but I appreciated it, nonetheless.

"We have a very important visitor today from my company. I told them I wanted everything presentable when she came in." Damien said casually. I glanced up at him, wary by his nonchalant attitude. I guess when you are the biggest name in the fashion industry, you can't really be troubled by feats like this. He must get things like this all the time.

"You mean Angela Gears is going to be coming in today? No wonder the office is in disarray." Just like Damien, she also holds a high status amongst us Fashion people. She was declared the world's number one Makeup Artist on Fashion Yearly's Magazine. Fashion Yearly is the biggest Fashion magazine, and the most popular. If you were to be featured in any of their pages, you were basically known as a god of fashion.

Angela Gears was pretty close to that. Considering she has been the most favored makeup artists known amongst the most favored stars. I heard she even does the President's Wife's makeup for special events. She also specializes in special effects for movies and shows. Damien and Angela where basically a powerful force to be reckoned with. One word from them and you could literally lose your job or gain a seat in powerful places.

"I never dreamed the day that I could be partnered with the most powerful makeup industry, but also meet the goddess behind it." I said breathlessly as I opened Bastion's door. We scurried inside, taking a deep breath before walking over to the desk that I had sat in front of just a few days ago. The day that Damien had accused Aaron and I of being a couple.

"She is definitely well defined in her field, but I wouldn't call her a goddess. Where her talents are flawless, she can be a bit temperamental. Especially with Illia and Lilah trying to coerce her into joining their design group as their personal Makeup artist." Damien muttered before pulling a seat up beside me. Aaron Passed him a quizzical glance before taking the empty chair beside me.

I couldn't help but pass Bastion a dirty glare as he sat comfortably in his seat. He seemed unaware as he stared off into the distance. Despite the bags under his eyes, he seemed totally fine. Like drinking till our stomachs needed to be pumped, did absolutely nothing to him.

"I see that you seem unaffected by last night's game." I mumbled before leaning back in the chair. He looked up, genuinely surprised as I spoke. But then his surprise faded into a smirk as he reached into his desk drawer and pulled out a large bottle of pain relievers. He grabbed his pen and shoved the white bottle in my direction. With a sigh of relief, I poured some into my hand and swallowed them. As I handed the bottle back to Bastion, the door to the office swung open.

Not a single word was said, but you could still feel the power behind the swing of that door. I felt the chills rise up and fall back down my spine as I turned in my chair. I faced two of the darkest blue eyes I think I have ever seen. They were cold and silent. Not one person dared to breathe in front of this being, afraid that the ice prickling our skin, would forever freeze us. Her powerful gaze was so entrancing that I couldn't pull mine away. This was the power of the goddess.
