Kapitel 49: Chapter 49: Ambush

Pain registers on the front of my thigh. It branches out, spreading out in all directions. I grab onto his arm.

"What is wrong?" he asks.

"Oh, God, no." Brushing a hand over my leg, I grip a small, slender object. A single silver dart sits in the palm of my hand. John Spencer is here.

He takes hold of my hand. "Fuck." He draws a weapon from the side of his leg, then fires on Spencer's approaching men. "We have to move."

"I am on it." Gaila crouches behind a stone figure of an angel.

Vlad guides me toward the east entrance. The loud crack of gunfire rings around me. About halfway to the exit, we encounter a group of armed men.

Several flashes of light spark in the darkness, and I'm shoved to the ground. Gasping for air, I push against his muscular chest.
