Kapitel 16: Chapter 16: Possibilities

The hallway leads to two possibilities. The first is an unassuming single door. It's basic in design. But the second, a double door, sports intricately carved patterns in the cherry wood. The head of an angel bordered by wings adorns the elaborate frame. Engraved symbols, similar to the ones found in the water pod and on the display panel screens, etched in gold-leaf, scroll around two rectangular pictures. One image is of a man and the other a woman.

In each picture, the man and woman are standing under an archway. The man, face hidden by a hood, is holding a glass of wine. It's tipped sideways, pouring the contents out onto the floor. Running my fingers over the carved wood, I follow the wine trail. It flows down to the base of the door where the body of a wounded man lies.
