Kapitel 50: Stunning

Rodeo Drive, located near Beverly Hills, was the most famous fashion center in Los Angeles. This street spanned from The Beverly Hills Hotel to the Four Seasons Hotel, with over 100 boutique brand stores packed within just three blocks. The cobblestone streets, sunlit fountains, old-fashioned pubs, and European-style shops created the most unique scenery in the City of Angels.

Starting from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it was only one mile to Rodeo Drive, which took just five minutes by car. Joseph quickly brought Hugo to this trendy neighborhood.

Looking at the densely packed brand stores on both sides of the street, such as Armani, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, and Louis Vuitton, it was dazzling, but they had no idea where to start. Neither Hugo nor Joseph had much of a concept of shopping. After leaving the parking lot, they stood on the street and didn't move a step.

Hugo was carefully observing the luxurious decorations of the brand stores on both sides of the street. The magnificent decoration was intimidating. Hugo knew that a shirt inside could cost several hundred dollars, which was impossible for him to own in his previous life. Therefore, Hugo always believed that clothing was not about price or style but about one's own matching, dressing in a style that belonged to oneself and confidently presenting it. That was the most fashionable. Simply pursuing brand names or following fashion trends was not necessarily suitable for oneself.

"Armani, how about that?" Joseph hesitated for a moment and suggested, "Hollywood has always said, 'If you don't know what to wear, then choose Armani'. Why don't we try it?"

Hugo couldn't help but laugh. "That's just a kind of advertising marketing, and you fell for it?" Hugo never believed in such advertisements. Some people even said, "You must own a Louis Vuitton in your lifetime, otherwise your life is incomplete." Hugo sneered at this even more. If a person's life needs to be completed by a bag or a piece of clothing, then such a life has no pursuit.

However, Armani's suits were not too bold, but they were not lacking in novelty, which was indeed quite suitable for most men. Moreover, it was still the early 1990s and the development of men's fashion was far behind women's fashion. It was not like in the 21st century, where men's fashion was diverse and overwhelming. Therefore, choosing Armani would indeed be a good start.

"Let's go in and take a look." Hugo didn't have any particular ideas and was unsure which brand to choose from the dazzling array of fashion stores, but starting with Armani seemed like a good idea.

Without any further hesitation, Hugo and Joseph pushed open the glass door in front of them and walked into the shop. As soon as they stepped inside, a salesperson with a smile on her face greeted them, "Good afternoon, sir. Is there anything I can help you with?"

Hugo's gaze wandered back and forth among the neatly arranged racks of clothing. The countless outfits were dazzling and finding a suitable suit for himself was not an easy task. Joseph was more experienced and immediately spoke up, "We need a suit for a formal occasion, but nothing too serious."

The salesperson immediately understood. This was Hollywood and it was clear that she had welcomed countless celebrities. She smiled and asked, "Is it for a party?" At the same time, she discreetly glanced over at Hugo, who was standing beside Joseph.

It had to be said that Hugo's compelling charm was truly eye-catching, making it difficult for people to take their eyes off him. He was simply dressed in a white T-shirt, black straight-leg jeans, white sneakers, and a smoke-gray jacket. Simple, generous, clean, and neat, yet youthful and energetic, perfectly highlighting Hugo's warm and sunny temperament.

The salesperson took a few seconds to recognize the person in front of her as Hugo Lancaster, who had recently been very active because of the Golden Raspberry Awards. To be honest, although Hugo had starred in outstanding works such as "Dead Poets Society", as well as big productions like "Desperate Hours" and "Hudson Hawk", none of them could be considered his masterpiece. It was the Golden Raspberry Award that truly made Hugo famous in Hollywood.

After recognizing Hugo, the salesperson naturally had her own calculations in her heart.

At the same time, Joseph answered, "It's for a premiere."

This made the salesperson nod with a smile and say, "Please follow me." Then she led the way ahead, her tone polite and reasonable, neither too respectful nor contemptuous.

Before Hugo had heard that the employees of this brand-name store were a bit snobbish and even banned customers who dressed plainly from touching the clothes, with the absurd excuse of "you can't afford it". This kind of thing happening in the service industry was truly shocking, but unfortunately, this was the cruel reality. However, today the performance of the store clerk was quite satisfactory. Actually, both Hugo and Joseph were dressed casually, and Joseph was only wearing a shirt with jeans, looking quite shabby, but whether the clerk recognized Hugo or not, his eyes and expression were not unusual.

The Armani store was quite large, and the clerk led Hugo and Joseph through the lobby and turned into a side area, which was like another world. Then the clerk stood in front of a row of clothes racks and pointed to the two rows of clothes around them, "These are all this year's spring new styles, not too formal, but still casual and classy."

The clerk quietly looked at Hugo, estimating his preferences, but still explaining, "The design for this spring mainly emphasizes the beauty and strength of the human body through the cutting, with simple lines matched with a delicate texture. It's not as dull as a normal formal suit, but adds some youthful rebelliousness."

After grasping the key points of Hugo's gaze, the clerk walked to the side of the clothes rack and took out two suits, "I see that Mr. Lancaster is tall and has long legs, with a unique and sunny temperament. Any color would suit him. But these black and gray suits would be more suitable for the premiere, stable yet noble."

The clerk hung the two suits on the nearby rack, fully displaying the overall feeling of the clothing for Hugo and Joseph, and then could carefully examine some of the details.

Joseph looked back at Hugo's figure and nodded. In fact, Hugo had a standard mannequin figure, and any clothes would have a special charm on him. He could definitely wear either of these two suits. "Why not try the black one?" Joseph thought the gray one looked a bit dark and mature, which wouldn't be very suitable.

At the premiere of "Final Analysis", Richard was responsible for the mature, stable, and charming look, and Hugo couldn't repeat this route, otherwise attending the premiere would be meaningless. Not only do female actors compare with each other, but there are also plenty of male actors who compete in secret. It's just that most male actors are limited to suits, so it's not as exciting as the flowers blooming among female actors. So Hugo couldn't directly clash with Richard in terms of maturity and charm at the premiere, otherwise, he would be asking for trouble.

Hugo knew that most clothes don't look great until you actually try them on, so he didn't refuse and entered the fitting room with the clothes. Before going in, the salesperson handed him a white shirt, and Hugo realized that he had made a mistake and only brought the suit, forgetting the shirt.

With a teasing smile from the salesperson and a helpless expression from Joseph, Hugo entered the fitting room with the suit.

Soon, Hugo changed into the clothes and walked out, muttering, "Is this size right? Why does it feel a bit too big?" But his response received no answer, and he realized that the whole space was silent.

In fact, there were several customers and a few salespeople in the store when he first entered, and they were quietly conversing, but now all those voices had disappeared. As Hugo looked up, he saw everyone staring at him with dumbfounded expressions. This kind of stunned look made Hugo feel like he was in a comic, and he couldn't help but chuckle.

Hugo was wearing a neat black suit, and his well-built figure was clearly displayed under the fabric. Although the suit's slightly loose cut was not designed with the modern trend of slim-fitting clothes, it still perfectly matched Hugo's body, showcasing a man's elegance in a youthful way. His bright smile lit up the whole world.

Everyone in the Armani store was instantly stunned, struck by the wave of charm that came towards them, speechless and unable to react at first. They say clothes make the man, and with Hugo's innate advantages combined with a suitable outfit, his impact increased exponentially. His handsome and deep features were permeated with a sunny breath, which came directly at them. Just one glance, and people lost their ability to speak.

Finally, Joseph was the first to come back to his senses. He cleared his throat and said, "No, I think this outfit is great. Really great." Joseph even added a sentence, emphasizing his inner feeling.

The salesperson who served Hugo quickly regained their senses and hurried to Hugo's side, walking a small circle to examine the overall effect of the outfit and checking if there were any parts that needed improvement. "This design is not too heavy, and the small notch collar with two buttons is also very youthful and fits your temperament."

"Really?" Hugo pulled his collar and buttoned up the suit, walked to the full-length mirror, and observed the overall effect of his clothes. "Why do I feel like I'm wearing a bucket?"
