Kapitel 48: Chapter 48- Where I Belong

I lightly hummed a tune as I chopped the onions on the cutting board. The pasta was boiling so I quickly turned the heat down on the stove.

I checked the time on the clock to see that it was very late. “Hmmm, mom will be home soon.”

I dumped the onions into the pot and started making the tomato sauce. “Hope she’s not working overtime again. Her complexion didn’t look so good this morning.”

As I worried about my mom’s health, my phone started vibrating in my pocket. “Oh!”

I took out my smartphone and noticed the name. I smiled and answered, “Heya, Mrs. Kooper! Will mom be home late again?”

“R-Railey, your-” Her voice was interrupted by a sniffle. It sounded very shaky like she was trying to hold back a sob.

I suddenly have a horrible feeling. “Mrs. Kooper?”

“Your mom… Your mom collapsed during work.”

My eyes widened from the news, “What!?” I quickly ripped off the apron I had on and turned off the stove. “Is she okay?! What happened?! I’m coming over!”
