Kapitel 27: Strong Tail
He traveled the distance of 90 meters within 6 seconds. He was still hiding and none of the leopard spotted him.
He was only 10 meters away from them.
Roan reinforced his fist with energy. He then rushed to the two mutant leopards. He was already close to them, a mere distance of ten meter was hardly enough to do a surprise attack.
However, he did not have any other option. It was not possible for him to get any closer to the leopards without alerting them.
He wanted to use a long range attack but he was more confident in his fist's strength. He used knife with his left hand and prepared a fist with right.
He wanted to critically wound one mutant leopard or directly kill it with his first strike and then fight with the other one left alone.
He dashed very fast with the help of his wind technique. It took him half of a second to reach the mutant leopard.
He did not wait for the beast to react and punched it with his full strength. The 20 meters per second speed of his dash combined with his 19 points in strength stat knocked down the leopard in one punch.
Dust filled the area around the leopard hindering everyone's vision. A loud Thud sound was made.
The mutant leopard was not aware of the attack. Only after it was punched and felt pain did it notice it.
However, it was already too late for the mutant leopard to defend. It was slumped on the ground like mud.
The mutant leopard's bones were broken and its waist and two legs shattered because of the impact.
The beast could no longer move, it did not even get the chance to scream in its final moments. It was literally beaten to pulp.
The other Mutant leopard hurriedly dashed back. It did not know the attacker who disturbed its meal and felt very annoyed.
When the dust cleared a little, the scene was like livid a painting.
A circular hole two meter wide was made because the punch from Roan. In middle of the hole was a bloodied mutant leopard with a mud like body.
Roan himself did not expect his punch with dash to be this powerful, this was the first time he used both reinforce and wind path together.
He was ready with a knife in his left hand to stab the other mutant leopard while he dealt with the hurt beast.
But the situation was out of his prediction, he did not think that he could deal with the mutant leopard with only this much energy.
Morris , Lucas, and Jasper were struck with disbelief. They could not believe that a movement technique combined with fist technique would provide such results.
'I thought it was enough that I had a trump card to kill higher tier beasts. He didn't even need one' Jasper dispiritedly thought
Lucas was also having same thought but he did not express it. It was already very hard for him to accept Roan's previous strength but this was too much.
Morris saw Lucas and others dispirited and shocked.
He too was in awe of Roan's strength but he knew it was a correct combo which increased the strength of attack. It was not like Roan actually had this much normal strength.
"It is a rare but simple combination of fist technique and movement technique. He already has speed of 15 points agility and with his movement skill he can double it"
"Are you sure it's because of movement skill and not because he had told us lower stats?" Lucas said
"With a speed of nearly 30 points in agility even a peak intermediate tier would be no match for him."
"Let alone the fact that with his speed he can easily beat the mutant leopard m, he also has 15 points of strength to complement his speed."
"Adding his 30 points of agility with 15 points of strength and then his fist technique, he might even injure a advanced tier beast" Morris briefly explained
"What fist technique is that strong and how can he achieve double his initial speed?" asked Lucas
"I don't know about his fist technique but his movement skill is a wind element skill, which might be a beast skill. I don't know any human skill which can enhance that much speed" Morris replied
"His fist technique is not actually a fist technique but a simple reinforce." Jasper indifferently said to them
They were all surprised that Jasper could analyze so much but they also did not believe that the fist skill Roan used was a normal reinforce.
It was not just possible for it have such huge effect. But when they thought of Roan's head to head fight with the berserk monkey, they reluctantly accepted Jasper's words.
Roan was standing near the dying beast staring at its companion.
The other Mutant Leopard was facing Roan with a angry face.
It had only been two seconds and the dust from the air settled down. Roan and the mutant leopard were facing each other.
Roan could have already attacked the remaining beast but he wanted to first finish off the one which was seriously injured.
The mutant leopard pounced on him the moment dust settled. Roan also used the knife in his left hand to attack the incoming beast.
He wanted to stab the knife in Mutant Leopard's head and kill it in one hit.
The mutant leopard was only a meter away from his knife when it turned itself in air and threw its tail at Roan.
The speed of tail already reached the speed above peak intermediate tier beasts.
Roan could only protect his body by tackling the tail with his hand. He could only choose to sacrifice his left hand to keep his rest of body safe.
The tail struck his left hand holding the knife. His forearm was shattered, he felt a brutal pain in his hands.
He could not stop trembling because of his shattered forearm. His hand was in same condition as the mutant leopard he beat down in one punch.
"Karma hits back, but isn't it little too early for it. I only hit the leopard few seconds ago" Roan said gloomily.
He quickly sent energy into his left hand trying to protect what little of his hand could be felt.
The Mutant leopard was also not in mood to stop its assault. Its companion was killed by a surprise attack, how could the proud intermediate tier beast bear it.
It went back on the ground and used its tail like a whip to repeatedly attack Roan.
Roan used his full speed with movement technique to leave the area of the tail's reach.
He was slowly retreating and the beast kept on cornering him.
He wanted to rush in and attack with all his strength but this could endanger his head and even be smashed by the leopard.
He could not risk his head just because he wanted to kill the beast quickly.
The speed of the beast's tail was very fast and could only be tackled with strong defense.
There was no way to dodge the tail in its range. Only when he moved out of tail's radius then he could dodge the tail temporarily.
He quickly thought of possible methods to distract the beast for a second. If he could get one second then he would be able to kill the beast.
He had two small knives near his waist. He could use it to attack the mutant leopard and take the moment to attack it.
But he only had one hand left to use. He could not use his left hand and if he used right hand to throw the knife then he could not muster his strength in time to punch the leopard.
Lucas and others were also worried for Roan. The Mutant Leopard from before was easily dealt with so they did not know its terror.
However, now that they saw how the amateur beast could easily corner Roan, they felt scared.
It was lucky of them that they easily killed the beast with ranged attack and did not get into close combat with it.
"Should we help him? It looks like he can't battle the mutant leopard with only one hand" Jennie asked
Jasper and others looked at her. This was the first time she spoke after a very long time.
Lucas and Morris even forgot her presence in the team.
She felt worried, she knew that Roan was strongest one of them. She did not want him to die.
'If he dies, then won't us who are weaker than him die more easily than him' Jennie gloomily thought.
She shared the opinion to save Roan just to indirectly ask Jasper. She knew that Jasper was already able to attack again. He did not need such long hours to recover his energy.
But she could not reveal it to everyone. After all they were strangers, they could not trust each other.
She did not want to share others the information that Jasper has already recovered. She waited for his brother's answer.
"We will wait a little, if he is really not able to deal with it then we will attack." Jasper said after a little thought
Morris and Lucas also nodded. They did not want to let Roan just die in the hands of a beast. They were teammates, they could only stick together and support each other for survival.
Roan was in middle of battle, his energy was being consumed 2 points per minute for reinforce and 1 point of energy per minute for his movement skill, wind path.
He could only last for five minutes with all the skills actively in use.
"I have to take the risk" Roan made up his mind and started moving towards the wounded mutant leopard.
He wanted to kill the beast and use the instant level up feature which healed his body to recover his hand.
He wanted to find another method but there was no time to think for more solutions.
Because the beast kept attacking and he kept dodging, the distance between him and the wounded beast grew more than fifteen meters.
Now he wanted to rush to the wounded beast without alerting the Mutant leopard.
He kept dodging the whip like tail for another ten seconds and came back to where the wounded mutant leopard was.
He powered his legs with reinforce and stepped on the mutant leopard's head. The head of pitiful beast shattered.
Notifications of him killing the beast and obtaining the beast crystal sounded in his head.
Suddenly his left hand started recovering. To not make others aware of his healing process, he dashed to the mutant leopard swinging its tail at him.
He used his left hand which he could previously not feel because of the damage. He used 4 points of energy to reinforce his hands forcefully.
The energy teared through his healed hand and stopped the mutant leopard's tail.
This time the leopard did not get to attack again. Roan used his right hand with reinforce and struck the mutant leopard's head.
He did not forcibly increase the output of energy into his hands because he wanted to not destroy his hand before killing the beast.
He only used normal 2 points of his energy but it was already enough for the mutant leopard's demise.
Its body was pushed back a distance away with sound of its skull cracking.
The beast's only strength was its tail. Without the tail, the species of Mutant Leopard were very weak.
This did not mean Roan didn't put his strength into the punch. His punch was only inferior to his dash and reinforce combo attack.
His attack was about 80% of the combo he used to cripple the first mutant leopard.
He did not wait for the mutant leopard to stand up and quickly rushed to it. This mutant leopard was more miserable than the first one he attacked.
He lifted his right leg and put the beast out of its misery.
More notifications sounded in his head. This was the second instant level up he got within minutes.
