Kapitel 11: Fear
Brian and others ran. They did not turn to look back, they did not care for their group members. They just dragged their bodies away from the devil.
Roan did not care. He just wanted the troublemakers to leave. He did not even chase them for a second.
It was their stupidity and fear that they even thought that he would kill them all in here. "Even if I wanted to harm them I would have done so outside in secret not under the test by academy" laughed roan at their stupidity.
The truth he did not know was the watch on his wrist could not at all record battles. If a student killed another, they could say that a beast hunted them and their partner died while escaping.
The academy did not care for students. The professor already mentioned the academy would not help them inside.
Brian knew of such possibility and did not risk gambling his life. He was first to come to the decision to escape. The rest of group only followed their leader with fear empowering their bodies.
When they were more than a kilometer away they slowed their pace of running. They were not at all stupid to attract the beasts in forest.
They only approached Roan in cave because they thought an alone student such as Roan must have found a secure beast free area.
They did not consider the possibility of Roan alone killing a beast to occupy the cave.
The First group only slowed their pace but not at all stopped. They unknowingly rushed in the forest and did not dare to stay in long.
Roan by that time already stopped thinking of them. He was now planning his next move.
Earlier he only thought of doing something and did not plan a lot.
It was more likely that he did not get the time to plan.
When he entered the forest first day, he was sneak attacked by winged snake. Later, the winged snake other members showed up.
He obtained the system and then he rushed to find a safe place to stay.
In the mountain he coincidentally saw the fight between snake and bear then killed the injured snake.
After occupying the cave he slept and woke up next morning. He started off by planning to hunt the bear's cub and ended up fighting against the adult bear.
In all those events there was no planning. Now that he thought about that he found himself lucky. He could have died three or four times but here he was alive and kicking.
"I don't think hunting intermediate beasts without observing their abilities would work."
"They each have different abilities, if I did not know the bear could turn itself in metal then I could have died."
"I cannot breakthrough and i have to hunt beasts." Roan thought for a long time.
After an hour of thinking and recalling the fights he not at all could find a easy method.
He got a new path to walk in exploring uses of energy. He knew a lot of people who focused only in energy but still ranked top among rankers.
The use of energy needed training, he could not use large amount of energy to one hit kill the enemy like with bear.
He exhausted all his energy for one strike and went limp. He could not even move, let alone fight the fiend if he missed the attack.
There would be no chance of even running away in that body condition.
He thought of searching the fleeing first group and force one of them to teach him their skill.
But there was another problem. He could not trust them and if they taught him the wrong skill then he would become cripple at the very least and dead at most.
Energy attack skill used the energy inside of user's body. If not controlled well, it would injure the user from inside.
"The skills are costly and only rich kids can afford that. I dont even know if anyone among them have learned a skill."
"I can try my White sutra for minute energy control. But then I would have to explore on my own by trial and errors. I do not have that much time."
He brought out the location and checked for the distance Brian and others have traveled.
It was not more than an hour but they were already twenty kilometers away from him.
"It seems like they all have beast souls and have been training with little accomplishments in their sutras. There would be no way a normal student who never trained could run twenty kilometers in the forest and be safe."
"It is good, I not at all fought them. I would have been in trouble going one against four" he said in relief
With his personality he would not fear them but being cautious was good. He already suffered a lot from the bear.
If not for his instant level up and body recovery he would have been in worse condition.
He made the decision to not follow the group. He run his own white sutra. He kept circulating his energy and tried to concentrate it on his hand.
His tried releasing his energy to outside his palm. His muscles were torn and skin burnt.
He stopped forcing energy out and tried not to make noise from the pain. He knew trying this method would hurt but did not expect this much pain.
He ran his white sutra like normal and the violent energy in his palm was eased. The violent energy became tame and started circulating in a normal path.
His hand was surprisingly being healed at rapid rate. He knew this was work of his sutra.
He did not do anything else and only circulated his energy. Slowly he started gathering the energy on him palm again.
But this time not at all violently. He did this in the same way the white sutra worked. White sutra circulated energy to different body parts and made the body absorb it.
Most of the defensive sutra worked this way to make the body strong. Only after absorbing the energy body would grow stronger.
He circulated the energy but instead of instantly absorbing it, he gathered it in his palms.
He could not risk it with his legs, damaging that would hinder his escape. So he only tried it on his palm.
The energy gathered was not absorbed and was being concentrated. He did not instantly release the energy this time.
He slowly tried to pass the energy like when it was passed while absorbing it. But this time instead of nourishing his skin from inside, he pushed the energy outside his skin.
It hurt a little, like skin being scratched but the method worked. Now the energy was outside his body but still shared a connection with him.
He coated the energy on his skin like a glove on hand. He then tried punching the ground of cave.
He did not put all his energy but still used half of it. The surface of ground cracked a little.
His energy layer was still on his hand, it did not break. He found out that at his current level of energy control he could only lessen the damage done to himself.
When he punched the ground, the ground not at all hurt him. Only the protective layer made contact with ground. To him it was nothing more than a slight touch
He powered the protective layer more. When he increased the energy output he found that he could not control its shape.
Still it formed a protective layer around his fist. He punched the ground with his full strength. The fist made a two inch hole in the ground and not at all hurt him.
Roan was surprised and happy. Earlier he tested his strength on trees and made a six inch hole. His fist hurt but still made him happy of his strength.
He not at all tried breaking rocks. He knew rocks would be more hard and would only cave in a little.
Now not only he punched a two inch inside rock but it did not even hurt.
"The protective layer of energy is not all stable, it may have increased the damage done on ground" he thought
But not at all tried punching into stone ground with his naked fists. He lessened the protective layer to only single layer which he could control.
He punched with all his strength. The layer of energy hurt this time. It did not hurt a lot but this time the energy coating was close to breaking and could not reduce damage.
The force on it was too much and could not protect his fist from being damaged.
What made him happy was the damage to the ground was still two inch. But this time it did not spread and affected the nearby ground.
It only caved in two inches deep in the ground like a result of concentrated energy attack.
It helped him understand that the double layer energy coating was not only for defense it added the area damage to a concentrated attack.
" This much would help in fights I hope" He only hoped of him not being hurt and not at all gaining increase in damage.
It was more than enough that he made a defensive skill on his own. He could use it while in hunting space.
He now felt a little more safe. He trained with his skill a little more before totally exhausting his energy.
He found out that one layer of his energy took two stat of energy to make. After making a protective layer it was difficult to absorb the energy back.
If he controlled the protective layer for longer, it consumed energy to just maintain it. It took about two energy stat for a minute of protection.
When he checked his energy stat he found out he could not maintain the skill for more than nine minutes.
If he maintained it for nine minutes then he would exhaust all his energy not even able to walk.
At most he could maintain it for six minutes to still fight and be able to escape.
After doing a lot more tests regarding this skill he wished to increase his energy stat.
He remembered he still had an intermediate tier beast crystal in system. He did not know how the system stored it.
He opened his system

He thought in his mind of crystal and the crystal appeared in his hand. He chose to run his sutra to absorb the crystal.
A familiar notification to appeared

He accepted and felt stream of energy fill his body. Again notification popped up in a red black screen.

[ + 2 Earth affinity ]
He did not expect to get affinity with earth. It was an unexpected benifit he couldn't use.
He had 90 exp points before, now that he used a crystal he checked the status again.

He checked his status and found he would need lot of intermediate tier beasts to level up.
" I only get instant level up when I kill an intermediate tier beast. If this does not work then only absorbing beast crystals would work"
"I would not get to hunt in academy. I only have three more days to level up." He thought things through and prioritized leveling up.
