Kapitel 55: Not Odd At All

Tian Zi and Fyre rushed to the hospital but everything was too late. Because Remi's side received most of the impact of the accident, not only did she receive glass shards embedded on her skin, broken arms, legs, and spine, and she lost a lot of blood; she had a blood concussion on her head that led to her death. When Fyre heard all this information from the doctor who rushed to perform surgery on his older sister, he couldn't stop himself from screaming and crying.
"No! T-that's a lie! You're supposed to save lives! You're supposed to save my sister! She is not dead! You're lying to me!" Fyre yelled to the doctor with tears streaming down his cheeks. How can he believe such a lie? Just weeks ago they were in Hawaii having fun. He was even trying to perfect his cookies so he could invite the Beta to his place and ask her about her problem with her lover... but now, they're telling him that she's dead? It has got to be a lie.
"I'm so sorry. We did everything that we could to save her..." The doctor said again but it only made Fyre bawl louder not wanting to hear the tragic news anymore. Seeing this, Tian Zi pulled Fyre into a hug, quickly dismissing the line of doctors who tried to help Remi along with Jonathan. Luckily, even though Jonathan had the same condition as Remi, he barely survived and is now still undergoing treatment in the operating room with more doctors.
"They're lying... They're definitely lying... Right?" Fyre repeatedly mumbled in grief against Tian Zi's chest before he slightly pulled away and to see if the Alpha would agree with him. However, seeing the sympathetic expression on Tian Zi's features, Fyre's sobbed even more knowing that this was reality. That everything that the doctor had said was true. That Remi has really passed on just like that.
"I'm sorry." Tian Zi whispered softly before he tightened his hug. He didn't know what to say because the situation wasn't okay and Fyre was not okay. In the first place, he was never good at comforting someone and he never had the need to do so but seeing Fyre this way, he really wished he had the ability to make the Omega feel better. If he did, he would have been a much better help for Fyre right now.
"You can use my shoulder to cry on as much as you want. I'm always here for you Fyre." Tian Zi whispered before subconsciously kissing the top of the Omega's head. Meanwhile, hearing the message, Fyre finally decided to drop all his guard and hugged the Alpha back this time around and he cried more. His beloved older sister has died. He deserved to at least cry all his heart's desire. He was barely 18 when he decided to run away from home, since then he had never seen Remi. If not because he always monitored her and saw how she was doing, Fyre would not have come to look for the Beta in person when he found out he made Jonathan, a nobleman with a playboy background as her lover.
It may not seem like it but for Fyre, Remi was his favorite person in the world. He wanted to make her happy as payment for all the help and comfort she had given when he was younger and struggling; when it was him suffering from his depression. But now, he could no longer do so. He could no longer help her achieve her goals in life. If he knew this was going to happen, he should have come to see her earlier. Now, all that is left is heartbreak and regrets.
"I-I should've come t-to see her much earlier..." Fyre said between his sobs.
"There's no way you could have known this was going to happen...Please don't cry... It pains me to see you breaking like this," Tian Zi confessed. He held both of Fyre's cheeks and tried to wipe his tears. He knew it was useless to do so but he had to at least wipe those sorrows away. He didn't know why but he hated it. He hated seeing the droplets of salty water streaming down the Omega's cheeks and under. If only he could take all the pain Fyre was having now, he would not think twice and do it in a heartbeat. At times like this, he really missed Fyre's constant yelling, with his deep frown and angry expression. At least that way his friend wasn't hurting.
"S-Still... I should have reached out to her sooner..." Fyre cried even more while Tian Zi continued to hug his sweet scent and didn't care even if people passing through would stare at them. Even when Marjorie Woods and Margarette Silvostri arrived, he didn't remove his arms around the still bawling Omega. And even more when Laura Mo and Mo Chendong arrived, they remained hugging which the two didn't try to interrupt, understanding half of the situation.
Since Tian Zi was the person who was contacted by the hospital reporting the unfortunate event, they didn't understand the whole situation yet but they rushed to the hospital when they heard the news. As Jonathan's guardian, it's only right for them to give as much assistance as they could because the young Alpha is not just a simple person. He is an heir to a noble lineage. If anything happened to him, the Woods could take it upon them so while they already knew Remi had passed on, they silently waited by the operating room.
Meanwhile, it took a long while for Fyre to calm down but eventually, he did when they were asked to see the body. Unfortunately, Fyre once again started crying when he finally saw his sister's cold and injured body. It was something he had to see to confirm the body. And somewhere between that time, he couldn't handle it anymore and fainted out of stress and fatigue.

"How's Fyre?" Laura asked worriedly, glancing at the Omega who was now lying on the bed. After he fainted earlier, they all decided to admit Fyre to the hospital. Thankfully, there was nothing wrong with him and he was just extremely stressed out learning the death of his Remi and fatigue. He needed some rest to recover and so they all decided to let him stay in one of the hospital's suite rooms while still waiting for Jonathan's result.
"He's fine now. He just needed more rest." Tian Zi replied.
"Hmm, that's good to hear... About Jonathan, his surgery was successful and the doctors said he's no longer in danger. He has a broken arm and leg but thankfully there was no permanent damage... he will get better after a few therapy sessions. Your father already talked to Marjorie and she will not hold this against us...but she will immediately transport Jonathan back to Europe once the doctor gives the signal. She said they can take better care of Jonathan when he's there," Laura informed, to which Tian Zi replied with a simple nod. What had happened was unfortunate but there's nothing they could do about it now.
"What about the truck driver?" Tian Zi asked. The investigation quickly came out and it turned out it was the truck driver's fault why this accident happened in the first place. He was trying to overtake another car in front of him but he was so slow and Jonathan and Remi's car was there. It was an expressway so cars moved fast so even though they could see the truck from afar, it was too late. The front was hit by the truck however leaning dominantly to Remi's side before they were pushed to the side to another lane, and hit again by an SUV. It was a huge impact so it's no surprise the truck driver also lost his life.
"Unfortunately, the truck driver also passed away just now. The surgery was successful but his body couldn't handle the trauma and died." Chendong replied this time. Tian Zi didn't reply and just sighed helplessly. Since the other party died, then this case is closed. He's just worried that Fyre would become even more depressed that there was no one he could blame but himself.
"This was an accident. It's unfortunate but all we can do right now is pray for Jonathan's fast recovery and Remi's soul... Fyre as well... I hope he can get through this immediately..." Laura commented worriedly and once again glanced at the bed where Fyre was still peacefully sleeping.
"Hmm, I've also already contacted Mr. and Mrs. Long. They should arrive later to claim Remi Long's body... Fyre didn't want to see them so I had to go see them alone and explain..." Tian Zi said and quickly Laura and Chendong nodded in agreement. They didn't know what Fyre's reason was but they always respected people's decisions. Someday when the young Omega is ready, he will surely let them know his story.
"We'll come and help you, Xiao Zi... it's the least we could do for Remi and Fyre..." Laura said with a faint smile. She reached out to her son's arms and caressed it gently as if saying she was so proud of him for acting so mature in this kind of situation.
"But from now on... you have to take better care of Fyre... I can feel that that child had been through a lot and now he lost his sister... It's now your job to make him happy and feel comforted, okay?" Laura smiled and Tian Zi just nodded because that was his initial decision anyway. He didn't find it odd at all and truly felt it was his responsibility. He didn't question any of it and he was not at all aware that if it was him 5 months ago, he would have had a deep frown on his forehead now and wondered why he had to take responsibility. If it was him months ago, he would have found all of this rather bothersome.
