Kapitel 206: Chain Reaction X

"Do we have more war in the horizon for us?" Azazel questioned.

"We most certainly will but through no fault of my own, I actually plan to lay quiet for a while until I'm inevitably provoked into action once again." Jun candidly responded.

Azazel frowned at the response but the fact that Jun had no plans to go out looking for fights himself was already good enough in his book, if other so dearly wished to go forth towards their end, then that was not his problem, at the very least, he certainly hoped as much.

'The war that is coming is definitely the Khaos Brigade problem which seems to be getting bigger and bigger . . . Ugh . . .' The fallen angel internally mused.

"Right then, so . . . If war is not your aspiration, can I interest you in an alliance?" Azazel inquired.

"Well, you certainly have a better chance the devils in that endeavour, what do you propose?" Jun inquired back.

"Some solid and practical. No aiming at each other, share information, mutual defence, that sort of thing." Azazel shared his idea, it was pretty basic and obvious stuff but overcomplicating such things was never a good idea.

"It doesn't take a genius to figure out that based on recent events, you stand to benefit much more from such an arrangement that me and my people. I don't fear you aiming at me, I'm quite sure I'm ahead of you in information and I certainly don't need anyone's help in defending my assets." Jun laid it all out.

"And so, I was thinking on how to sweeten the pot to make things a little more equal and came up with what I think is a pretty good idea." Azazel kept going, completely unbothered.

"I'm listening." Jun simply said and awaited the rest of the fallen angel's speech.

"I hear you are intent on extorting the devils big time eh?" Zazel questioned with a smirk in response.

"Clearly, we have different opinions on the measure of fair compensation is all. I for one, think I'm being rather generous in fact." Jun, completely unbothered. replied with a calm tone.

"Demanding all assets owned in an entire country over some insults and a little threatening attitude hardly seems to be anywhere near what anyone would consider, "fair compensation"." Azazel countered.

"On that we agree." Jun surprisingly gave the fallen angel his agreement, leading to him raising an brow with a bit of dumbfoundedness on his face.

"Is there a but?" Azazel then inquired.

"But, the compensation I'm demanding is not for some insults and threats or attitude is it." Jun calmly explained.

"Perhaps starting a war over "insults and threats" might be somewhat excessive but the price I'm demanding in exchange for a ceasefire, not peace, is most certainly not." He concluded the explanation.

"Ceasefire? Their marketing it as peace." Azazel spoje with a little bit of surprise.

But it was Jun who was actually surprised.

"They are are actually putting out there? Surprising even if they are selling it as peace. I would think the Devils would want payback after all the chaos and destruction my people caused even if the death toll was quite low." He commented.

"Actually, as the death toll was low like you said and the demonstrated difference in power was so big, people are blaming leadership for picking a fight with you in the first place and since the current Satans are well known proponents of peace . . ." Azazel trailed off.

"The pressure is mounting on the other factions while the Satans are supposedly in the process of negotiating for peace." Jun completed the line.

"Serafall is good." He added in comment, sure that this was one of her reactionary measures, one that yielded massive results no doubt.

"Indeed she is but you're really putting the squeeze on them if you're asking so much for just a ceasefire you can break at the slightest inclination." Azazel said.

"Maybe so but I don't enjoy peace as much as you do. I'm young and thrill seeking after all. Besides, letting go of things when I hold the absolute advantage is just stupid in all kinds of ways." Jun responded.

"Fair enough but earning goodwill is never a bad idea, specially with individuals who you know will return it if an occasion presents itself." Azazel advised.

"I already gave plenty of goodwill and a great deal of it was woefully ignored so either you misunderstand the current Satans or they seem to have made an exception for me. Whatever the case, I don't plan to change my course of action. They made their bed. Now they have to lie in it." Jun countered.

"Even if they will do anything short of utterly unreasonable for reprief right now, since your pushing them quite a bit, they'll be looking for payback in the future you know?" Azazel warned.

"I know, but I honestly and sincerely doubt they will ever get the chance besides, I gave them plenty of concessions, even a ceasefire is something I did not have to even consider in my current position of power." Jun explained his viewpoint.

"I suppose you have a point but my curiosity led me completely out of my original point." Azazel conceded the point with a chuckle and suggested.

"Let us get back to it then." Jun agreed with the suggestion.

"You demanded the devils' assets in Japan for a ceasefire but since Grigori is in a better position, would our own assets in Japan be enough for a solid alliance I wonder?" Azazel suggested with a curious smile.
