Kapitel 8: How to Create Power

The day later, Ernest met Guilhem again to show a different variant of firearms. He knew that one day they'll be forced to fight to uphold "his" ideals and in order to do that, he needs to pump up his army.

Summoning a modern firearm in a fantasy world is the only security he has. Since magic and powerful monsters exist in this world, Ernest can't be too careful.

Ernest arrived at the workshop of Guilhem. Blacks smoke billowing out from the chimneys of blast furnaces, dwarves drenched in sweat hitting the iron ore, the smell of strong body odor welcomed him upon his entrance.

At the far corner, there's a desk where Guilhem was sitting, probably sorting files.

"Sir Ernest, You've arrived. Come come." Guilhem beckoned Ernest to come forward."

Ernest, who was carrying a black suitcase, walked forward.

"So, how did your study go?" Ernest asked the moment he arrived closer at his desk. He sat on the chair provided to him.

"To be honest it was magnificent." Guilhem exclaimed, "I can't think of any word to describe this gun other than 'perfect'. Give us seven days and we will be able to reproduce 100 of them in no time."

"What? 100 guns? That's surprisingly huge considering the equipment that you have." Ernest exclaimed, he looked around only to find no milling and lathing machine. He was curious.

"We are dwarves sir." Guilhem proudly replied, "We have a variety of techniques to achieve what we want to build. Now that we've learned the secret of this gun, we will be able to create it just as simple as forging a sword."

"Okay. But there's one problem though. That gun is useless when one element is missing." Ernest said as he pulled something out from his pocket. It was a small piece of metal.

"This piece of lead is called a bullet. This is the thing that the gun spewed out when you pulled the trigger. To save you some time we are going to need three recipes. Sulfur, Charcoal, and Potassium Nitrate. You better take note of this one."

Guilhem was puzzled at the words he hadn't heard before. But hearing that it was a necessary ingredient for a bullet, which is used as a projectile for a gun, he immediately grabbed a parchment paper and pen to write and take notes.

Seeing that he is prepared to take note, Ernest begins teaching Guilhem how to obtain "gunpowder."

Using his modern knowledge from Earth and as a gun enthusiast, Ernest was able to fluidly teach and explain how to obtain gunpowder. Well, there are a lot of ways but Ernest chose the simple one. For sulfur, Ernest considered the geography of Eighbury, if there were volcanic areas near Eighbury, obtaining sulfur would be no problem but there was none. However the Eighbury main exports to other cities are ores and minerals so if there were sulfur minerals such as iron pyrite, galena, or gypsum, then the sulfur problem is solved. For charcoal, well blacksmiths use them all the time so there's that. Finally, the Potassium Nitrate or KNO3. This ingredient is hard to obtain in their current era. So he thought of something efficient and can be produced at a massive scale,

One idea popped up in his head.

"Guilhem, can I borrow some paper and pen? I'll write something."

"Sure here it is," Guilhem said as he handed the paper and pen.

Ernest began to write and draw something in it. Guilhem took a peek at what he's doing and saw a diagram there. He wondered what that was.

"To get potassium nitrate, we are only going to build this one," Ernest said as he showed the finished product. "It's called the Haber-Bosch Plant that produces ammonia. When combined with just water and air, it will be a source of unlimited gunpowder and ammunition." Ernest exclaimed, waving his hand.

"Woah…" Guilhem was amazed, although he doesn't know what he is talking about, it was just amazing!

"You can build this with the current material you have in here. Now that you know the three ingredients I'll give you a sample of a finished product."

Ernest picked a small plastic container filled with black powder.

"This should be the final product." Ernest said, "Once we have this, we can uphold our movement and ideals."

"I will do my best to meet what you seek, Sir Ernest. Leave this to me. With this diagram, we can finish building this in two days."

"Okay, that's good to hear. Now onto the next topic. We are going to level up our guns." Ernest placed the black suitcase on his table and opened it.

Guilhem saw another type of gun. Compared to the gun he saw yesterday, this one is longer.

"This gun in front of you is called M1 Garand, a semi-automatic rifle. This will be the main weapon of our military in the future. Of course, different guns use different sizes of bullets so I know the difference. I'll demonstrate it outside so please come with me."

"Yes sir!"

Guilhem prepared the target practice as soon as he got out of the workshop. Three dummies in horizontal line clad in armor plate. The dwarves who were on their break decided to watch as well to witness the weapon Guilhem had been telling them since earlier in the morning.

He had seen the power of a pistol capable of easily piercing through an armor plate rather than an arrow. He also imagined it being used in real combat where a knight will rush towards only to get hit by an invisible barrier.

Guilhem grinned as he looked around his co-workers who deemed his story unbelievable and ridiculous. They'll be flabbergasted.

"Ernest the targets are set and are awaiting your shot." Guilhem declared.

"Good," Ernest said as he readied his posture.

He gently caressed the M1 Garand with his hand. This is the first time he had touched a WW2 weapon.

The reason why he chose the M1 Garandis is its cheap price. It cost him 3,500 tyrant points whereas modern weapons such as the M4 Carbine cost 10,000. Also, considering the warfare of this current era, there was no need for modern weapons such as those M4 Carbine to exist yet. If the mentality of the people here in warfare is all about charging is heroic, valiant, and mighty then any firearm is effective.

Ever since his reincarnation, he has spent 4035 tyrant points. His current balance as of now is 103965 tyrant points. Though that number is a lot, Ernest thought that carelessly spending it on things that are not yet necessary will be a waste.

For now, weapons are necessary if he wants to be successful on his next quest.

Now, he aimed the M1 Garand at the dummy in the middle and pulled the trigger.

*Bang bang bang.

Three simultaneous thundering noises echoed, making the dwarves who were watching reflexively cover their ears and shut their eyes. As the muzzle of the M1 Garand spewed out a tendril of smoke, it wafted, strucking Ernest's nose and making him recall his past nostalgic memories of the first time he fired a gun.

The dwarves who were covering their ears, including Gulheim, opened their eyes slowly and saw the dummy's armor which was fired upon three small holes.

It happened in an instant, no one knows what just happened but the moment the gun roared, the armor was pierced by something fast. So fast for their eyes to see.

"What the...it's powerful."

"Imagine if a real person is wearing it."

"They would instantly die from that wound."

The dwarves exchanged their thoughts, Guilhem was in disbelief again. A question of doubts now lingered in his head. Where did Ernest Gonzales obtain that weapon? Did he create it?

"It seems as though you're wondering how I got this weapon," Ernest said as he peered at Guilhem.

Guilhem froze up, does this guy have some mind-reading magic?

"Well I made it by myself and it took me months to perfect." Ernest told a lie, "It seems that we're going to need the power of this weapon to fight those who disagree with our ideals and the Empire. So I'm going to need your help in producing these weapons. If it took me months then it'll just take you days."

"You seemed confident in our skills, Sir Ernest."

"You said that you're good at building things right? That you can create anything the moment you understand the inner workings?"

"Yes, I remembered saying that." Guilhem let out a brief chuckle.

"There are other things that I can give to you that will surely lessen your workload on creating one. But I need you to keep silent about what you'll see." Ernest said with a serious expression.

Guilhem felt a heavy pressure on those words, enough to send a chill to his spine.

"If it's a matter of secrecy, we can discuss it at the back," Guilhem suggested.

"Okay."

In a secret room inside the workshop, Ernest made a serious look on his face. He was about to conduct something unimaginable and beyond human skills.

In order for them to produce weapons with the same quality as the summoned weapons, Ernest will have to give them tools and machines. That is a lathing machine and milling machine.

He knew that he can't keep this forever as a secret so it's better to show them.

"What you're about to see is something beyond imagination, you can refer to it as magic. I'll be summoning machines that can significantly increase your efficiency. So before I do it, I need you to promise me that you'll never disclose this to anyone."

Guilhem gulped, he was really serious about this matter. And what's more, did he just say he is going to summon a machine?

The doubts about how Ernest having a weapon would make sense.

"If you tell this to anyone, the consequences will be unimaginable. So, are you okay with that?" Ernest asked one last time.

"Sir Ernest, you have shown us the way to unite again and fight the oppressors from the outside, I have sworn my fealty and I will never betray you and your trust," Guilhem said reverently as he knelt down before him.

"Okay, I'll take it as a yes so here we go…" Ernest extended his hand towards an empty space.

He opened his system and navigated through different tabs, in the machine sections, he saw the two machines he wanted to conjure.

[Milling machine: 10,000 tyrant points.]

[Lathe: 10,000 tyrant points.]

[Total of 20,000 tyrant points.]

[Please confirm your purchase.]

'Confirm.'

[Transaction complete.]

[New Balance: 83965 tyrant points.]

At that moment, a dazzling ray of light covered their field of vision, and the moment it faded away two new machines were brought into this world.

So I made some changes in the past chapters where the troops of Crentis is reduced to 10,000. I think that number is little to defend the national interest and provide security to a country so I changed it to 100,000 which is still reasonable and sensible even in the middle ages. So that's it. New chapter will be uploaded later.
