Kapitel 16: Extended Prologue | Part 15

The area around them was surrounded by run-down abandoned buildings, not far from their current location was a bridge that connected to a populated Naruhata city.

He just needed to go through the bridge, just getting near it would be fine, once he was there, he could create a signal. The communication is jammed in the area. So he was left alone with dogs behind his back.

Even as the spikes kept coming, Dabi kept running. The dogs were catching up, but the bridge was almost near. He could see the road that connected to the bridge. It would take only ten minutes to get there.

"Boss, he's here." Dabi heard a sound, and he moved his head to the side to see a face on the road. He didn't waste one minute throwing his fire on the road, he heard a painful grunt before the face was gone, leaving behind a burnt mark on the road.

Dabi smirked a little, that felt good.

The small girl was still holding onto his chest, and he needed to get her away from this quickly. If there were other options, he would have stayed here and killed every single bastard that was related to this incident. The Yakuza would be erased if he could just let loose.

Even though it was wishful thinking to go up against the Yakuza alone, almost a death wish. But when he looked at the scars the small girl had, it was even worse than how his father treated him. So he knew how it felt and he was furious.

"Finally, caught you." A loud scream came from above, and Dabi rolled to the side just in the nick of time to miss a giant size of a man crashing down on where he previously was.

Suddenly Dabi felt his head spin and strength leave his body. 'What was happening?' He dropped to his knees, but still was careful not to let the small girl fall.

The dust settled letting Dabi see his face, even with the moonlight Dabi recognized him due to his large body. Raikiya Katsukami, a c-ranked hero with a quirk that lets him steal someone's stamina if and only if he touches them.

And he was sure that the villain didn't touch him, then why. Maybe… "So you took the drug? Huh."

The villain charged into him, trying to land a fist. But even with his losing stamina, he was somehow able to invade it. And then used his fire from his hands to propel him backward, gaining some distance.

"You are smart kid, I will give you that. You figured it out with one glance." He said. "But betraying us was the last thing you should have done."

"Oh, you sound like a broken tape recorder for a villain. Say some new lines will you. And just to be clear you have no idea how much I question my life choices." Dabi said with a weak smirk on his face. He needed to move away from him. If it was like other quirks, he needed to have vision on the target to steal stamina from his opponent. But he wasn't seeing any place to hide or take cover in. Most of the buildings around were demolished or burned.

"Still, have your tongue, eh?" The muscular villain started taking steps towards him, cracking his neck in a lazy fashion. "I will make sure to rip it off your face, after this." With this, he fully charged towards Dabi.

Gritting his teeth, Dabi held out his hands in front, placing one over the other, while his palm was facing the villain.

"That won't work on me." The villain screamed as he got near, his hands already crossed over his face to block the fire.

But Dabi smirked, "Who said it was for you?" He faced his hands downwards, before blasting off his blue flames. It gave him enough boost to get airborne. But he would soon fall.

'I don't want to do this…' Dabi thought before his boots engulfed in flames, burning off his pants below the ankle. And the fire from his feet was enough to jett him through the sky. Making him fly.

His feet hurt like hell and flying wasn't his strong suit. Unlike his father, he always had to be careful to have minimal contact with his fire or his skin would meltdown. And he wasn't sure how he was going to walk after this, but he gritted his teeth and bared the pain.

He could see the bridge not far from where he was. He just had to get near, maybe some hero would be around the area. It was a wishful thinking, but he ignored it with his pain.

His feets hurt like hell, and he could even feel the metal bars strapped to his left leg getting melted and stick to his skin. But he tried to ignore it as much as possible.

Suddenly he felt a sudden jolt of fear, and by pure instincts, he moved his body to the right to avoid a sharp projectile thrown at him.
