Chapter 44: Meeting the Rookie 9
After an hour, I made my way towards where I had just met Naido sensei, where I saw him and Yuki just meditating together.
Ayumi was also nearby and she was talking to Sakura.
Sasuke and Naruto were also arguing against each other while Kakashi Sensei was reading Makeout paradise.
Something which I had already read in this world and was definitely some interesting content.
"So you're here." I heard a lazy voice call out to me, and turning to my side I could see one teenager who looked similar to myself happily relaxed on the floor.
He looked so content that he didn't even want to lift his head to greet me and was only doing so since he knew me more than others in this group.
Right behind him, a fat and chubby teenager was munching on snacks, as if he was scared the snacks would grow legs on its own and he would have nothing else to eat.
He kept on moving on the new packets, and his bag seemed to have an infinite amount of food.
"*Munch* I am not sharing any. *Munch.*"
"Idiot he doesn't want any, he is probably wondering how you have so many chips in one tool kit." Shikamaru asked to which I nodded.
"*Much* Thats easy,*Much*, I brought an extra bag but sensei took it away,*Much*. He only gave it back now that we are leaving. *Much*"
"Fat Pig." I heard a female voice spit out and
"Ino be nice." I heard, and as I turned towards the side I saw Ino Yamanaka and Asuma Sarutobi walk towards Shikamaru and Choji.
Ino is a slender, fair skinned teen with long platinum blond hair tied into a high ponytail with striking blue eyes. She wore a purple outfit with a sleeveless top, skirt and fishnet stockings.
Asuna is a tall, well-built man with tan skin, short spiky black hair and a beard. He wore a standard Hidden Leaf uniform with the green flak jacket and was smoking a cigarette.
"You must be Shikomu." Asuma said as he walked closer to me and observed me.
"Yes." I replied to which a slight grin showed up on his face.
"Naido wasn't kidding when he said he found a good one." I heard a female voice say as she walked right beside Asuma.
Kurenai Yuhi popped up from his side. She has wavy black hair, distinctive red eyes and fair skin. She wore a red mesh armor blouse, a white sleeveless overcoat and bandaged around her arms and legs.
"Naido sensei said that?" I asked in surprise, since he rarely praised me after rejecting buddhism.
"I mean, he mentioned you exist. With Naido you have to read between the lines." Kurenai said with a slight smirk on her face.
"BARK!" "Your right Akamaru he doesn't seem all that tough."
After saying that, a man and dog duo revealed themselves…and in my opinion he was definitely at one of the weakest ranks inside of the entire Rookie 9 in terms of practicality in terms of combat.
Relying on a dog to fight just seems crazy to me.
Kiba Inuzuka, with his wild brown hair, sharp eyes and distinctive red marks on his cheeks made his presence known. As per usual he had Akamaru with him.
"Bark!" Akamaru barked at me as he came closer, however when we made eye contact he began to whimper and hide himself from me.
I looked around properly again to see Shino Aburame with his short dark hair and high collared coat making his way towards Shikamaru.
Even Hinata Hyuga with her dark blue hair, fair skin and lavender eyes without any pupils made her way to greet Naruto, even though her entire face was red to the brim as she walked towards them.
Well it seemed like the entire rookie 9 was here, with their Jonin sensei too.
And an extra group of 4, with 1 familiar fat player.
Geppo Aburame in all of his fat glory was here, and this time with a smug look on his face as he walked towards me.
"Nice to meet you again Shikomu!" He called out as he raised his hand for a hand shake.
I stared at it for a moment before shaking his hand.
"I swear to god when I get the chance I will kill you." He whispered to me in anger, thinking none of the Jonin would be able to hear him.
I couldn't help but face-palm, how idiotic did some people have to be?
Literally every single Jonin in the area was now constantly keeping him in their senses and the fool didn't even realize.
But I was able to feel the strength in his hand and he did at least have Jonin level strength.
He was probably one of those crazy players who was rich in the outside world as well, and paying his way to win.
Well that didn't matter, when Aspects are going to be revealed, with S-rank Ninjutsu and other crazy things like the Susanoo.
What is an Elite-Jonin or even a Kage supposed to do when an asteroid is coming straight at them?
For some reason, I could swear I saw Shikamaru's face twitch at Geppos' words.
After we broke our handshake and I didn't give him any reaction, he seemed pissed off till his Jonin sensei walked towards me.
The man exuded a strange, unsettling aura, as if he had something creepy around him. His long, sleek hair went down his back, and he had narrow piercing eyes that were staring at me as if I was a prey and he was the predator.
He also had a sword that was on his back, and for some reason I felt like if he wanted to, my head would fall off at any point.
I felt weirded out just by being in his presence.
He politely nodded towards the Jonin, as if signaling he already knew the problem with his genin.
"Nice to meet you, my name is…" Before he could continue though, Sensei stood up from his place and appeared right in front of me.
"Sora Takahashi." Sensei greeted, as he raised his hand for a handshake.
The man, now known as Sora, didn't shake sensei's hands and just nodded.
"You know I hate physical contact."
"Really? I didn't remember that." Sensei said as he grabbed the man's shoulders and then sighed, "You would have made a great buddhist…now you are even sending your students astray." He sighed.
The man had a straight face, but I could clearly tell he didn't seem pleased with the physical contact whatsoever.
Yet he didn't do anything and then pointed towards his other 2 Genin.
"This is Ryuko Nakamura." Sora said as he pointed towards a guy with jet black hair and a short sword that was on his back, mimicking his sensei.
"And this is Mio Suzuki." Sora once again introduced as he pointed towards the Kunoichi of their group. She had a fair face, with sharp eyebrows and wavy blond hair that fell to her back.
'What in the Chinese manhwa?' I couldn't help but think as I observed the pair.
The duo politely nodded and didn't say anything to actively introduce themselves. However one thing was clear, they didn't associate themselves with Geppo in any way, since the first opportunity they got, the 2 walked in pairs and ignored him.
"Alright since everyone is here." Naido sensei said, as he walked into the center and all the ninja gathered around him.
"We are tasked with sending an important item back to the Hidden Leaf." Sensei explained. Some people already knew it was the Jinchuriki, like my and Naruto's squad.
The Jonin probably knew, but this was beyond a Genin's pay grade. We were only being brought along since Lord Jiraiya probably didn't think there was something this force of Jonin couldn't handle.
"At the front of the whole formation will be Team Asuma." Naido sensei narrated, as the Earth slowly shifted and a flat area formed. He then formed an A and pointed at Asuma.
"With your Ino-Shika-Cho formation you guys are the most versatile to deal with a variety of threats."
Asuma didn't say anything as he nodded alone.
"Right behind them will be my squad." He said as he wrote an N down, yet he didn't explain anything about why we were in the center.
"Following that is Sora's Squad." An S was formed behind the N, "You guys will deal with any flank attacks quickly, giving us an opportunity to run with the package if needed."
"We are escape goats?" Sora asked casually, to which Naido sensei nodded.
Yet the man didn't seem particularly bothered by the fact that Naido sensei would leave him to die if needed.
"What's new, right?" Asuma said with a smirk as he looked at Sora, who just didn't bother with replying.
"Team Kakashi, you guys will be on my right," a K was formed, "Take care of our rear."
Kakashi sensei just nodded along, not giving any inputs.
"How about my squad?" Kurenai asked, probably thinking the same thing as me. Her squad was a sensory squad and it didn't make sense to have them at the rear.
"Your Genin will be split up. One for me, Kakashi and Asuma's squad. We both will be handling the left side." Naido sensei said, as a K was formed on the left side too.
"I don't need you baby sitting me." Kurenai said, to which Naido sensei didn't reply.
"Shikomu." He called out, to which I looked towards him.
He then threw a scroll towards me and I caught it, while literally everyone had their eyes on me.
"Here, you keep the item. This entire formation is to protect you and ensure you deliver the package."
