According to Zhong Yu, you can't let your body leave an opening while transferring your mana energy to other objects because it would break their mana bridge.

The black haired girl takes another deep but ragged breath before she pushes all the mana energy that she could give out.

"And…release!" Zhong Yu says. The moment those words left the other party's mouth, the black haired student's knees finally gave out. She fell to her knees as she tried to catch her breath. Mi Young felt a tap on her shoulder, "Good job for your first time, kiddo."
