It was early winter. Roughly two and a half years passed since I got here. I look in the mirror and see an old woman dressed in a wonderful dress. The dress had cherry blossoms painted all over it. It gave her a noble vibe one of elegance and grace. Behind her was a scrawny two-year-old boy with black hair and brown-green eyes. He was dressed in a pair of trousers and a shirt. While the lady beside him was the embodiment of style, the boy gave an impression of negligence and sloth. That boy was me.
'I don't look too different from how I looked when I was younger back home. The only difference I can see is that my eyes have a tint of gray in them.'
"Ethan are you ok?" She asked me.
"Yes, grandma" I respond.
Ethan was a very peculiar name for somebody in this world. Granny found a note on the beach near me with that name on it when she found me. It was a very weird coincidence since in my past life Ethan was my name as well.
"Well then, come help me arrange those fruits in the store." Naomi says while leaving.
"Coming!" I yell, glancing for the last time at the mirror.
While some might think I'm too young to help in the store, I can clean the floors, arrange the fruits on the stalls and some other things. While I can't do hard tasks like lifting heavy objects and such, I try to make myself useful.
Truth be told... I'm bored. There are children my age in the neighborhood, but I can't stand them. I never was the patient type, so I can't stay more than five minutes with them. While I'm a young adult trapped in a body of a two-year-old, they are two years old.
Granny noticed this and was pretty concerned at the start, but she calmed down when I told her that I like to help her because I see how hard she's working. She was ecstatic when I told her and she let me help in the shop. At first, I think she was surprised at how useful I was and, when I asked her to give me more work, she didn't disagree.
So here I was on a snowy day of Monday helping when I hear the bell at the door I look at the door and I see a lady dressed in robes.
"Ah, Lady Pema, it's been so long since I've seen you." Said Naomi comes from behind the counter to greet her.
"Aunty Naomi it's been so long! How have you been? And please stop calling me Lady Pema. We're friends."
I look at her and I'm immediately shocked. 'Wait... Pema... Like in Tenzin's wife, there is no way, she doesn't look at all like in the anime.' The more I think about it the more she resembles her anime counterpart. I curse myself for not noticing it sooner. 'How could I be so stupid. Of course, she doesn't look the same. That was animation and this is real life.'
"And who is this young gentleman?" She asked.
"This is Ethan, I found him on the beach two years ago and I took him in, he's been a great help in the shop"
"Ethan you're such a good boy. Here, take this." Says Pema, giving me a look full of compassion, then she takes from her robes a nicely wrapped package and hands it to me.
I look at her and bow to show my respect while she patted my head to my unshown annoyance.
"Pema you shouldn't have"
"It's no problem, I'll just buy another case. Don't eat them before dinner!" She says smiling at me.
They went to a table in the corner of the shop and after that, they started chatting.
