Kapitel 57: Chapter 57: Finding Chelsea

“What?”

Brad was already heading for the car. “We’ll take my chief’s car.”

By the time Brad started his vehicle, Jake had removed his turnout gear and slid into the passenger seat. “Where’s Chelsea?”

“At the bank.”

“Tim’s taken Max?” Jake asked, disbelief pouring off of him.

Brad nodded. “I think the world’s gone mad.”

Tim turned on the windshield wipers of his car. The rain had begun in earnest minutes after they left the bank. Already soaked by their run to his car, his suit smelled like a wet dog.

“Uncle Tim” Max said. His sniffling subsided mere moments ago. He’d never meant to scare the kid. He hadn’t really thought about anything when he’d grabbed him.

Tim gazed at one forlorn little boy in the seat next to him. He regretted taking the kid, but the feds’ actions left him no choice. “Yeah?”

“Where are we going?”

“Not sure yet, sport. Uncle Tim has to get out of town.”

A new set of tears streamed down Max’s face. “But I don’t want to go anywhere with you.”
