The expression on Darce’s face clearly showed how much he cared about this young soldier. All the time he tried to talk with his young friend, he avoided or gave him a stony expression. This was just a different one now. There was an invasion of softness. He was still gripping the weapon in his hand tight.

Nicholas sighed, “I was surprised as well. I am sure you have questions to ask, but you must check your wounds first. Come on.”

He reached over to pull him, but, Darce still did not move. His eyes looked at Rosa, who turned back as she took down another enemy soldier. They locked their gaze for a while; Rosa slightly bowed to him before taking out more soldiers.

Darce could stay still any more, disregarding the people around him. He took steps to go into the middle of the fight.

“Hey, are you crazy?” Dylan screamed, but it was deaf to his ears.

He did not care what anyone saw. His mind wanted to know whether she was real or part of an illusion.
