Kapitel 22: Monsters? Pt.3

Cao Tai POV

The man shudders in pure white fright, honestly his face looks white and I feel bad for him, but it needs to be done, I ask Sasha to find us some honey, syrup, or something else thats liquid and sweet, to help her I give her a silver coin, that should pay for it.

Sasha comes back with this bottle of maple syrup and I tell Violet to stop the intimidation.

"So tell me, whats your name?"

The man spits at me, and my gaze wanders to a nearby anthill, and it begins...

I drag him over to the ant hill and reach out my hand, asking for the syrup, dousing his head in it.

"What? Thats your torture? When the Commander arrives he will show you REAL torture!"

I grin, "Now it's begun" I push his head onto the mound, the bugs eager for the sweetness begin to crawl all over his face, into his ears, on his eyes, "Shame you didn't tell me your name..."

Violet POV

Ohh... if Master wasn't punishing this piece of shit I'd have already slowly killed him... Master puts his head a few inches away from the thief and whispers something I couldn't hear, so I temporarily increase my hearing with Magical Essence.

"... Lao Xian" the man whispers.

"OK Lao Xian, now where is the main force? Or would you like me to put you back there again?"

"I-i'll tell you everything, but promise me one thing..."

"Yes..?"

"Protect my family... please... thats the only reason why I've started this..."

If he didn't attack Master I would've almost feel bad for him, but what he's done is already unforgivable.

"I'll do my best"

"Thats good enough" Lao Xian's face is now at peace and now discusses everything before our benevolent Master lets him go, "Go find a better life Lao Xian, and go to the mountains"

He nods and leaves, forgetting what happened earlier. [I wanted it to end well, since the real life of Lao Xian is quite sad, it was removed since it was too long for me to put into words.]

Cao Tai POV

Shortly after Lao Xian left, after Sasha recovered from her bonk and we packed up our gear, we proceeded to exit the forest.

"Where should we go guys? I was thinking about returning to the library so we can return our books the proper way as well as get some new ones, on monsters specifically."

"Why do you need to know about Monsters? After all, you have me to protect you!" Exclaims Violet while putting a hand on her chest.

"Yes I do but if I want to get stronger I must sacrifice monster heads as well as Magical Essence."

<Ding!>

I click yes and a Window opens displaying:

Rewards: 100,000 Magical Essence, 100 Dollars, 50 Tokens, 2 Gold Coins}

Well the last 2 rewards aren't that good but wow, thats a lot...

Also, 'Hey system, what does Secondary Quest mean?'

That makes another question, 'Hey system, then why are some of the quests I've received lacking a category?'

What!? Off path?! Then what is the 'right' path?! Nevermind... I don't wanna know.

"Hellooooo??? Earth to Master?" Violet asks waiving her arms across my face.

And I flip again.

As we enter the gates again, we were met by something concerning, more than concerning actually, especially for Sasha since the graffiti written was, 'AWAY WITH THE NONHUMANS' even though it was written poorly, the message was clear, and objectives as well, get the books as quickly as possible and leave this town before things got violent.

As I move towards the library some people shoot hostile glances towards Sasha, not towards Violet for some reason, I look Violet to see that her marks of distinction were hidden, probably to avoid animosity, but to be honest, even if she didn't hide them the Cultivators who could see her power would be smacking the fools to stop before she gets angry and flattens the whole block.

As we arrive at the entrance of the library, we see some security that wasn't there before, I guess the unrest has carried all the way to the Magical district, as we walk in it doesn't seem like they were going to stop us, as we meet Jarvis again I type in that I would like to get a Beastiary.

<I'm sorry sir, but due to the recent attacks we no longer hand out are most rare books, unfortunately the Beastiary goes under that category since we only have 2 copies, however we will copy an excerpt of what you want to know.>

I then type, 'I would like 2 excerpts, one on Manticores and one on Entians.' Jarvis then responds with, <Very well sir, the total will be 1 Silver coin, 5 Copper coins per excerpt, in case you are curious what this is for, 2 copper coins are going to security, 2 to royalty's and 1 to other>

Now this is what I expect from a library, next to where the keyboard usually pops out there is a holder, I place my last silver coin there while internally crying since it is my last silver coin. [Don't worry, he'll get real rich soon]

2 slips exit the port where the books used to pop out, I open one and they disappear in my hand.

The sphinx are a species of semi-intelligent creatures that exist in all continents, albeit in small quantity. They usually grow up to 10 feet in length and 6 Feet in height, if you do not offend them they are usually docile and with a decent offering, will leave you on your way, maybe even offer you information of the path. These monsters have a huge fright of water, make note not to offer them liquids as well, or they will imediately attack. {Entians [AKA Tree people, Forest Guardians]

Entians are huge humanoid trees who wander the woods, usually guarding the woodlife, most people consider that one large group of trees is simply one forest. Experienced people of woods know this myth is false, whether or not a Entian in woods or not makes it a forest. They have control over hawks and ravens, as well as a pack of at least 3 wolves. The one major weakness is one of their greatest strengths, they are made of wood, so therefore they tend to burn extremely easily. Just be warned, they will always know you are here, juse hope that they're bloodlust is strong enough to hunt you by themselves, or your in for a deadly night. So one thats weak to fire and one to water interesting...
