Alex used the shield as it flew up front, immediately accepting the attack that was thrown at it. 

The shield was made in a way that it could store Qi within it. There was a large reserve within it, and Qi stored within it would automatically be concentrated to become stronger. That concentrated Qi could be used later to defend against people regardless of their cultivation base.

What mattered was not the strength of the Qi of the person who used it, but rather the amount of Qi within that shield. So, even as a weak cultivator, Alex could use it to defend against people of much higher cultivation.

A row of attacks landed on the shield, completely stopped by it. Alex put the shield down as soon as the attack's hand landed and sent a sword slash across.

He couldn't immediately defeat all of them as he was still supposed to be hiding some of his powers, so he only made the attack as strong as Immortal Ascendant 8th realm.
