Months later....within the world of fire sat Xiao, torrents of high-temperature fire surrounded him as he sat cross-legged on the ground, all around him the color burned red, from the sky to the ground boiling into red, and the temperature in the surroundings sky high, any mortal man would die if he stayed within this same area for a few hours.
At certain intervals, a high-temperature wind would blast by but sitting in the middle of all of this Xiao was eerily calm, not a hint of pain or sweat could be seen on his face, a red flame similar in color to the world he was in floated beside Xiao.
And as if children finding their parents the elemental fire in the surroundings ran towards the flame, where it was transferred to Xiao's body, right now do to his low cultivation he's unable to access the flame Qi but hints of red color surrounded his body making him more eyes catching.
In the past year, Xiao has already turned 11 years old, and no major changes have taken place, his figure grew a bit taller, his face too seemed to grow a bit more pronounced, and his white and black hair grew in length as it was tied to a ponytail
The aura of {Connection} stayed passively active as it gave others a good impression of him, over all he looked like a doll that one would want to keep for themselves, his looks only seemed to be more defined and attractive as time went by, and this was mainly because of the cultivation technique that Xiao practice.
The grade of the cultivation was unknown to him but the cultivation technique Omega Asura's wrath, it not only gives him power but it also passively removes all impurities and imperfection making its user 'perfect' burning away things that the cultivation technique itself deems unworthy to keep, the 11 flames of beginning would make sure that its user would be extraordinary in all the way possible.
Of course, cultivating improves one's look but the Omega Asura's Wrath would slowly make the person to look at his absolute perfect form, not only that it would give off the feeling of a ruler of fire, as the person who practices it reaches higher levels, Xiao doesn't know it yet but he would find it out in the future.
To others, it might be a blessing but to Xiao who doesn't care about his looks, it's just a hassle, right now wherever he goes he causes everybody to turn their heads towards him, even rumors had spread about his looks, earning him the title of the 'cutest doll', not something which Xiao wanted to be associated with.
He also had to deal with the shinning eyes of several younger girls who looked at him but for some reason his good looks only seemed to make the three girls that hung around with him wary, talking in that regard he, the one he made most progress would be Li Lun, the time they spent together was long, hence he could see that she has a small or maybe a large crush on him.
Well, it became quite apparent now as she smiled and blushed whenever he looked at her, moreover, it was hard to avoid it when she always giggled and smiled when the talk of engagement showed up, shaking his head Xiao stopped his cultivation, as the red flame that was floating above his flashed and entered his body.
"Sigh....."
Xiao sighed out, letting out a hot stream from his mouth, his eyes opened as he stood up from the ground, and he looked at his hand as he clenched and unclenched them.
"It looks like I would need to venture out soon..."
Xiao mumbled to himself, While having a powerful cultivating technique is good and all, having the resources to cultivate is another issue, the amount of resources needed for his technique is mind-blowing, if it wasn't for his knowledge about the future, then Xiao would have definitely abandoned it.
'Small sacrifices for the greater power, I guess.....'
Xiao could only console himself like this. This is also one of the major reasons that many haven't risen above the truly powerful, so what if you have a powerful technique? what's the use if you don't have the resources to use it? most of the powerful resources are controlled by the truly powerful after all.
Lamenting to himself, Xiao exited his training room, with light steps he walked to his room but as he reached it he was met with an anxious servant waiting outside, seeing him the servant's face scrunched up, and hesitation filled his face but in the end, he seemed to have made his decision as he walked up to Xiao and bowed.
"Young master! there's terrible news!"
"What's it?"
Xiao asked calmly as he looked at the fearful servant. Hearing Xiao's question, the servant took a few gulps before he spoke.
"It's the young mistress L-Li Lun!, something terrible has happened to her during her awakening!"
After he finished speaking the servant closed his eyes awaiting Xiao's outburst, it was known across everywhere that Xiao was normally the calm and silent type, he didn't distinguish between anybody nor did he go out of his way to hurt anybody.
But there's a single thing that many agree on, it's to never mess with anybody Xiao cares about, about a month ago someone from a distant family visited, and among them a boy accidentally met Xuanyin, some kind of friction caused between them causing the 12-year-old boy to use his cultivation and hit her, causing some serious injuries to her.
At that time the first one was to arrive was Xiao, it was only a few minutes later did the others arrived, and when they did, they were met with a horrible sight, it was the sight of the boy being dangled upside down with his dress while he was completely naked.
That was not all, all the fingernails on his hands and legs were ripped off, and sword marks and gashes filled his body, blood had dyed the kid's body, and even then he was still being tortured by Xiao, it was a sight that many would not forget and it was the day that some learned the ruthlessness of an 11-year-old boy…
It was suffice to say that Xiao was punished but from then on, no one would dare to slight anyone that Xiao cared about and many knew that Li Lun was Xiao's fiancée and it was no hidden fact that he was in favor of her, so the servant waited, waited for Xiao's outburst but after a few seconds nothing happened causing him to look at Xiao, meeting his calm eyes.
"Is that all?"
Xiao asked the servant.
"Y-Yes young master"
"I see, then you may leave."
Saying so the servant hurried off with a confused face, seeing the servant leave, Xiao with a calm face started to move away from his room as he walked to the family meeting room, just as he had reached closer he could hear the enraged voice of his mother.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT YOU WON'T CANCEL THE ENGAGEMENT?"
Hearing his mother's shout, Xiao sighed again.
'Sigh.....why are things so hard?...'
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT YOU WON'T CANCEL THE ENGAGEMENT!"
Yun Lan's shout reverberated throughout the family meeting room in the manor. As her anger flared, coldness emanated from her, causing the temperature to drop rapidly. Standing outside the hall, Xiao could feel the chill, but it didn't affect him much. With a shrug of his shoulders, he knocked and entered the room, where he found his fuming mother.
Inside, his mother faced his grandfather and father, who stood on one side, while she stood on the other. The cold released by his mother seemed to have no effect on his grandfather, and his father had to exert some effort to defend against it. As for Xiao, well, being a fire affinity cultivator using a God-knows-what level cultivation technique has its own perks and uses.
"Um, not bad, child," Xiao's grandfather, Yun Hao, spoke. He applied a slight pressure on Yun Lan, causing her knees to buckle, demonstrating her power but also her inability to match Yun Hao, who had cultivated for hundreds of years. Gritting her teeth, she withstood Yun Hao's pressure.
"You are truly talented, little lass. Reaching such a level of power at such a young age is astonishing. But in the end, unless you have absolute power, talent means nothing," Yun Hao's words reverberated through the hall. He released his pressure, allowing Yun Lan to stand straight once more. Her eyes were cold as she confronted Yun Hao.
"So you're saying that you won't cancel the engagement?"
"Yes."
"So you want my son to marry a cripple?!" Yun Lan exclaimed in anger towards Yun Hao. They claimed to be protecting the family's honor, but in reality, they were only making her son's life miserable. Yun Lan's anger boiled inside her, ready to burst forth at any moment. That was when Xiao spoke up.
"Mother, it's enough."
Hearing Xiao's words, Yun Lan was surprised and quickly turned her head toward him. While the others had sensed Xiao's presence, Yun Lan had been too focused on the two in front of her. Complex emotions filled Yun Lan's eyes as she opened her mouth to speak.
"Little Xi, don't worry. Mother won't let you marry a cripple just because the family said so."
Yun Lan addressed Xiao seriously, her gaze fixed on him. Xiao smiled and walked toward his mother, smiling at her. Then he turned to his grandfather, completely ignoring his father. Facing Yun Hao, Xiao bowed.
"Greeting, Family Head."
"Do you also want to cancel the engagement?"
Yun Hao went straight to the point without beating around the bush. Xiao raised his head, looking at his grandfather, and calmly replied.
"No. The engagement was arranged by the Yun family, and it is my responsibility to honor it. I will marry Li Lun and not let the Yun family down."
"Xiao!"
Yun Lan was surprised and angry, calling out his name instead of his nickname as she normally did. Xiao turned to his mother, nodding in acknowledgment. Seeing this, Yun Lan wanted to say more, but she held back.
"It's good that you're being responsible," Yun Hao nodded, and Xiao humbly replied, "Family Head, you think too highly of me."
Not once did he say "grandfather," nor did he acknowledge his father's existence. With those final words, he took his mother's hand and walked out of the room, leaving behind a calm Yun Hao and a fuming Yun Qing. Xiao silently led his mother to her room.
A few seconds later, they entered Yun Lan's room. As they did, Yun Lan immediately hugged her son, patting his back. Her eyes were extremely cold as she spoke.
"Don't worry, little Xi. Since they won't cancel it, we'll just have to ensure that the engagement doesn't take place."
"What does the mother have in mind?" Xiao asked, coming out of his mother's embrace. Though confused, he had an inkling of what she was planning. Hearing Xiao's question, a cruel smile formed on Yun Lan's face as she replied.
"What else? For an engagement to happen, there needs to be a girl, right? We just have to remove that Li Lun girl from the equation."
Yun Lan showed no hint of guilt as she spoke about ending the life of a ten-year-old girl. In the past, she had let the engagement proceed because Li Lun had not yet awakened, and no one knew her potential. But now, as a cripple, how could Yun Lan allow her son to marry someone useless?
From the beginning, Yun Lan was never a kind woman. As long as she could benefit her family, she didn't mind becoming a devil. Xiao could only shake his head. In fact, this had happened in his past life as well, but each time, Li Lun would miraculously survive.
Since she was chosen for a legacy, it wouldn't be easy for her to die. However, it didn't mean she emerged unscathed. Xiao looked at his mother, who was already planning to contact an assassin organization, and spoke.
"Mother, you don't have to do anything like that..."
"What do you mean?" Yun Lan asked, not getting angry. She knew her son wasn't an idiot and was quite smart when having to deal with things, he seemed to be blessed with everything from the world, talents, and brains, and while it kills her not to show off the element that Xiao wields, she still holds great pride on it, and she knows Xiao wouldn't speak without a plan. Xiao looked at his mother as he spoke.
"Mother, you don't have to worry. I will handle it."
"Why? Are you scared of me hurting her? Perhaps, do you like her?"
Yun Lan asked with narrowed eyes. Xiao calmly replied with his fabricated lies.
"No, it's just that I don't want any unnecessary bloodshed, and I genuinely want to deal with this on my own."
After explaining his made-up plans and lies, Xiao listened to Yun Lan for a while until she finally sighed and agreed.
"Sigh... Fine, but remember, son, don't fall in love with her. I've already received news from my hidden sources that Li Lun is a lost cause. In the future, you and she will belong to two different worlds."
Xiao smiled inwardly at his mother's words because, as she had said, they would indeed belong to two different worlds. The only difference was that Li Lun would surpass him in the future, or maybe she won't. In this life, anything is at play.
"Yes, Mother," Xiao nodded solemnly while keeping his thoughts to himself.
"Good," Yun Lan finally agreed. Afterward, Xiao chatted and played with his mother for a while before setting off to the Li family.
'Sigh... I guess it's time to meet Li Lun...'
