Kapitel 16: Chapter 2934

A few seconds later, the yellow particles of light gathered behind the red line, forming into Gaia. She had respawned; however, she could no longer participate in this round.

Gaia puffed her cheeks with a displeased expression, looking at the Berserker who picked up her Cloth Gauntlets - the Advanced ranked Magician's Replacement Gloves. Gaia was very annoyed she had lost that piece of equipment. The Advanced ranked Cloth Gaunlets were specific for her Elementalist class, level 45 class specific items were very difficult to obtain in towns.

As the level of frontline players was continuously increasing, demand for low levelled equipment decreased. Low levelled equipment gradually depreciated in value and had nowadays become close to worthless. Even the money-farming teams of Guilds procedurally disassembled them for raw materials at an Advanced Smithy. As a result, low levelled equipment had become exceedingly rare in God's Domain.

Seeing Gaia's troubled expression, Shi Feng explained "As players start off without any spells or skills in the first round, the Healer and Mage classes are in a huge disadvantage compared to Weapon Specialist classes. The fact that you managed the get a Berserker's Health Points below half is already plenty impressive."

Gaia heaved a disappointed sigh. "I know, if I had my skills and spells, I would have won for sure."

"You are correct, combat standard isn't the only aspect what defines an expert, knowing when to use your skill and spells is an equally important aspect in God's Domain." She Feng consulted Gaia confidently.

Knowledge is important. Shi Feng was the prime example of this fact.

Shi Feng's unique feat in leading a third-rate Guild like Shadow to become one of the top second-rate Guilds, wasn't due to his inherent talent, but because he is a tactician who summarized and learned from his and everyone's successes and failures.

Hearing Shi Feng's kind words brightened Gaia mood a bit. She then looked at Shi Feng and mumbled "I'm most sorry for disappointing you."

Shi Feng chuckled "No problem. Rue will take care of that bully, won't you?" he said with a gentle smile, glancing a Rue.

"Heh?! Me?" Rue muttered, the she said nervously in a hushed voice "I might be a Ranger, one of the Weapon Specialist classes, but without any Special Arrows or Movement Skills, how am I supposed to kite that Berserker?" Rue looked at Savage Bearclaw, who had returned to his side of the field, behind the illusory countdown timer. "Furthermore, Gaia is a much better player than me. If even she can't do it, how am I supposed to win? It's simply not possible, not possible without skills and support items!"

Shi Feng chuckled under his breath "Without any attainment in the Realms of Refinement, it will indeed be very difficult."

"Realms of Refinement? What's that?" Rue asked cocking her head adorably.

"I think I overheard someone mentioning this…" Gaia tapping her lips, contemplating.

"Alright, I'll take care of this, but in the meantime, take this" Shi Feng then handed two labyrinthine crystals and two small pouches to the young ladies.

"These crystals are Memory Crystals and contain basic information on combat. Activate them with those Mana Crystals and the information will automatically enter your minds; however, the amount you will comprehend, and whether you will attain the Refinement Realm standard, will depend on your own resolve, effort and abilities." Shi Feng said before he left for the combat zone.

"..." Gaia and Rue were speechless as they stared after the swordsman, then they looked confused at the ornate crystal in their hand.

After a few seconds Gaia asked "Did we accidently trigger a Quest and that is an NPC?"

Rue glanced at Gaia "He sure talks like one… but I didn't seen any System Notifications of such a Quest…"

"What is a Memory Crystal anyway?" Gaia mumbled as she looked at the strange labyrinthine crystal.

"A-A-Ancient God?!" Gaia's complexion turned pale as the system's message revealed the crystal's origin. "T-This is a treasure of an Ancient God, and he simply gave it to us?"

Gaia was breathing very fast, as if she was hyperventilating. She felt nauseous and cold sweat formed on her forehead and along her back.

Gaia had read stories of the terrifying power of Gods. It was mentioned that even their presence could crush mortals like insects. However, she had also read a few of the many myths surrounding Ancient Gods, which were even more incredible than Gods.

Ancient Gods were rumoured to be invincible existences that had once stepped onto the mortal plane, with unrivalled power to disintegrate heaven and earth. Each Ancient God had left their mark onto the continent of God's Domain with their heaven defying power; while some had bestowed their divine blessings, others had left their eternal scars.

When God's Domain was still in the era of Gods and Demons, even Gods and roamed the continent; however, this all ended during their final war – the Great Ancient War.

The Great Ancient War eventually led to The Great Destruction, the infamous calamity where all Gods and Ancient Gods had either withdrawn, perished, or vanished from the main continent of God's Domain, and they never appeared again.

Any ordinary item that had existed since the Great Destruction was a precious treasure in the modern God's Domain, let alone items related to an Ancient God. These items exuded aura strong enough to make a person's heart skip a beat.

However, while these lost treasures were incredible, the Ancient Gods had often left their Will behind with their treasures and only those whom they deemed worthy had a chance in obtaining them.

The Ancient God's Will would assault the player's mind; some reports claim the mental assault came with an entrance voice, beguiling the player into submission. Other reports spoke of a Divine Will, which inflicted powerful mental pressure, rapidly consuming the players' Concentration. Only those with extraordinary resolve and Concentration were deemed worthy to claim the treasure of an Ancient God.

But some Ancient Gods had left behind Legacies in dangerous locations before the Great Destruction. Meanwhile, these Legacy Locations, where the Ancient God preserved their Legacies, possessed a Divine Will to deter anyone from approaching; however, the Ancient God's Legacy itself might even cause severe brain damage!

Gaia looked with a startled expression at the labyrinthine crystal in her hands.

Meanwhile, this Memory Crystal was an actual Legacy of an Ancient God!

Rue however looked in confusion at her panicking friend "He gifted them to us, right? I've been taught that declining a gift is very rude." She smiled and activate the Technique Legacy without hesitation.

Rue was a more practical lady; unlike Gaia, she didn't immerse herself in the lore of God's Domain and was unaware of the significance of Ancient Gods.

"Rue, no, wait!" Gaia yelled.

However, Gaia was too late.

The hundred Mana Crystals transformed into particles and flowed into Rue's Technique Legacy. The crystal glowed in seven bright colours before a stream of liquid mana plunged into Rue's forehead.

Gaia looked at her friend with frightened eyes. Rue sat down on the floor with her eyes shut; however, she wasn't frowning or displayed any discomfort.

"A-Are you okay?" Gaia stammered anxiously.

"Ssshh," Rue shushed "this is incredible."

Gaia swallowed. She contemplated about the matter for a several seconds, but considering Rue wasn't experiencing any difficulties, she decided to activate the Legacy Technique as well.

She Feng revealed a smile as he glanced behind him. The foggy silhouettes of Gaia and Rue were both sitting on the floor, they had both activated his Technique Legacy.

Let's see what kind of genius you are, Mage God Gaia…

Shi Feng then glanced at the translucent timer. Twenty-five seconds left before the next match.

"Hey, Swordsman, you might be able to deceive that cutie with that black outfit, but I know you aren't anything much. Since your Strength Rating is ranked dead last, how can you be anything special?" Savage Bearclaw sneered.

"You see this Guild Emblem? You've heard of my guild, right? That's right, I am from the second-rate Guild Carnage Blood! Moreover, I am the famous Savage Bearclaw, the Vice Commander of the Beast Blood Legion!"

"But you? What guild are you from? An unrated Guild? A third-rated Guild?" Savage Bearclaw snorted "Hmph, nothing more than that, I am sure. But what can a weakling like you do to me? Hm? Do you really want to earn the ire of a second-rate Guild? That's right, better you just give up and accept your death without resistance."

A second-rate Guild?

Shi Feng chuckled as he shook his head.

The difference between unrated, third-rate, second-rate and first-rate guilds was dependent on many factors.

The first factor was the background and foundation of a Guild. This came in the form of workshops, training facilities and financial strength. The Guild's foundation was often obtained from selling shares of the Guild; in turn, the shareholders would receive their proportional share of the Guild's net profit.

The second factor was the popularity, reputation and fame of the Guild. High popularity means the Guild had potential to grow due to influx of new talented players. Additionally, it would have potential to attract sponsorships of real-world corporations, providing external aid in the form of High-level Energy for internal legacy training systems, high-ranked Nutrient Fluids to groom internal experts, or pure financial funding.

The third factor was the number of experts and their combat standards. Higher rated Guilds had exponential higher number of experts; compared to the average unrated Guilds, third-rate Guilds had at least 20 times as many elite players; second-rate Guilds, 90 times; and first-rate Guilds, 100 to 140 times as many elite players per city region. Not to mention, the higher rated Guilds had spread their forces throughout many more Towns, Cities, Kingdoms and Empires.

As for combat standards, Refinement-Realm expert were exclusive to first-rate Guild. A second-rate Guild could never be acknowledged as a first-rate Guild without a single Refinement Realm expert in their ranks.

The fourth factor was their assets and influence in God's Domain. Assets such as the number of real estates in NPC Cities, Firms, Guild Towns, Guild Cities and their corresponding continuous revenue. But more importantly was a Guild's influence, in the form of alliances, number of war weapons, but also the Level, Tier and equipment standards of their experts.

Third-rate Guilds would be extremely lucky to have a single Tier 3 experts among their experts.

Second-rate Guilds, however, counted dozens of Tier 3 experts in their ranks, and if any of their experts had constructed a Tier 3 Silver Mana Body, they would throw massive party. After all, Silver Mana Body was the minimum requirement for players to reach Tier 4. Second-rate Guilds didn't have a single Tier 4 in their ranks; Tier 4 experts were exclusive to first-rate Guilds and above. Consequently, these influential experts were a symbol of fear and reverence for second-rate Guilds.

Additionally, third-rate and second-rate Guilds didn't have the strength to hold on to a single Fragmented Legendary item as these would be taken by higher rated Guilds.

As a result, unrated, third-rate and second-rate Guilds didn't even have the strength to protect their Guild Towns from the unceasing monster attacks and constant pressure from competing Guilds. They had very small survival rates in God's Domain, and in turn, corporations decided such Guilds weren't worth their investment, causing even further decline in funding.

Without the first three factors, foundation, popularity or experts, their only chance of survival depended on the fourth factor – assets in God's Domain.

Miraculous circumstances happened in the past when third-rate Guild survived because they discovered something incredible, for instance a, Kingdom Heirloom, Dark-Gold Personal Guard, Battle Array Armour Design, Combat Device Design, Guardian Puppet Design, or a Secret Land. However, these circumstances depended on near impossible luck and the chance was practically non-existent.

The usual fate of unrated, third-rated and even second-rated Guilds was to be annihilated and annexed by a larger guild. Their presence would often be a flash in the pan in the virtual gaming world, while first-rate Guilds and above remained as steady as a mountain in the industry.

Shi Feng looked at the Berserker before him with a bitter smile.

The prideful Berserker was unaware that second-rate Guilds like Carnage Blood were fated to vanish sooner or later. Yet, he was so proud to be part of a second-rate Guild.

"What? Lost your tongue? Or are you too cool to talk?" Savage Bearclaw taunted behind illusory wall in the middle of the battle zone. "Hm? Why the serious look? Ah, I see, I see; did I just beat up your girlfriend?" revealing a sinister smile.

Shi Feng creaked a mocking smile "I was thinking that fighting you one-by-one would be boring, why don't you come at me all at once?" he chuckled "that would also save me a lot of time."

At that moment Savage Bearclaw received a System Notification.

System: One player of Group #421,183 requests to challenge all five players from your group.

System: Do you wish to accept the challenge?

Savage Bearclaw laughed manically "You fool! How could you be taunted so easily?! I accept!"
