Kapitel 11: Muffled whimpers

Gulping in nervousness, Amber hesitantly questioned, "W—Who is there?" But instead of a definite answer, she heard muffled whimpers and it was evident that he was in pain.

Taking a step towards the shadow, she asked, "A—Are you hurt?" Suddenly the whimpers turned into heavy panting which startled her.

"Amber—" Catheline called her out before rushing towards her. "I was looking for you everywhere, what are you doing here?"

"I—there is someone here—" Amber stopped midway when the figure behind the pillar suddenly disappeared. The shadow, the whimpering, the panting, everything was gone, as if It had vanished in thin air.

"What are you talking about?" Looking around, Catheline added, "This place is empty, what are you doing here?"

"I—" Stopping midway, Amber replied, "It's nothing, I just thought I saw something so—anyway, let's go."

"The food is getting cold." Grabbing her hand, Catheline frowned, "Why is this place so dark and weird?"

"That is what I am wondering too."

Arnold's Dine-in was a famous restaurant, situated in a busy street. Whether it was morning, afternoon or evening, it was always packed with people.

"Maybe because this is the backside of the building?" Catheline assumed.

The entire building was brightly lit except for the dark corridor at the back of the building which was very weird not only to Amber but also Catheline.

"Maybe."

The City Block.

Situated in the heart of the Elisberg city, The City Block was home to many well known faces of the city. It was not only well known for its top security but also it's unique and fascinating infrastructure. Constructed in a two acre land, the residency comprised only twenty apartments with three apartments in each block.

Apartment no: 12

Tossing his jacket on the table, Ivan slumped on the couch. After hanging out with Athan at Nuts and Bolts, he came straight home after having a decent number of drinks.

Resting for a while, he made his way towards the kitchen to grab some water.

As soon as he poured himself a glass of water and stepped out of the kitchen, he gasped. Placing his hand on his chest, he muttered, "Holy mother of God."

"I am sorry, did I startle you little brother?"

"Of course you startled me." Slamming the glass on the table, Ivan snapped, "What the hell are you doing in my apartment and that too without my permission?"

Before Darius could say anything, he fumed, "You know what, you don't have to tell me. Of course I know how and why you are here."

Grabbing the glass, Darius took a sip of the water before spilling it on the floor.

"What the—" Scrunching his brows, Ivan yelled, "Why are you messing my house? Don't you have any manners?"

Without paying heed to his yelling, Darius took out a hip flask from his jacket.

"What—" When he started pouring fresh blood inside the glass, Ivan growled, "Hey stop, how many times do I have to tell you no blood in my house?"

Ignoring him, Darius placed the flask on the table before taking a few sips from the glass. "Who said it was for you? But if you want some, I don't mind sharing."
