Kapitel 16: Chapter 16 Fragile Hearts

"Look at me," I called for the hundredth time but she didn't look at me. "Open your eyes," I asked for the thousandth time but she still didn't open her eyes.

"Don't leave me," and then I begged.

But again, she did the opposite of what I asked.

She left me.

She selfishly left me. For death.

And she left a part of herself with me. As if to curse me with her never ending, suffocating presence. To mock me, saying that I could never have her but I could never leave her either. How could she do this to me?

I turned to look at the sleeping child in the maid's hand. The child that she fawned over from the moment he was born to the moment she left this earth... Because of this child... this thing! that I put in her, she lay lifeless in front of me now.

"Get that thing away from me," I whispered out, hollow.

"Pardon me, my lord?" The maid seemed surprised by my words.
