Kapitel 38: Day 2 of the games pt 1

Today is a stressful day. Currently with The witch and the demigod all three of our teams are tied for first place. I didn't expect the giant acromantula and its a good thing Ingvild participated cuz i don't want to believe how i would've fared going against that.
Im currently sitting with my peerage with a letter. The letter gives a clue to our next game and we're sitting anxiously. These games are wilder than any rating I've ever seen and its only been the first day. My hands grip the top of the letter and rip it open to see a small snowflake crystal fall out.
"Snow?" asked Reya "Well thats helpful."
"Anyone well versed in snow warfare?" Tsubaki asked.
To our surprise the one who raised her hand was Momo. "Ive been getting extra practice with Adelheid sensei and her ice is deadly."
So with momo as our chosen team member i go to meet up with Rias. Her team is strong and if Akeno had payed attention to the game in the first round she wouldve won.
"Rias have you already chosen your member to participate in this round?"
"Yes. Koneko was fired up after watching that Thalia girl and Ingvild fight that acromantula. Im so glad the Underworld doesnt have those."
I nod in agreeance before turning to Seek. "Well Seekvaira its unusual to see you out of your work rooms. What made you participate in this event?"
"Well Rias promised to introduce me to a genius mechanic if i helped her meet the 5 person quota and compete for her. Plus its not everyday you see a Phoenix."
Us three old friends continue talking until the games are about to begin. We head to our prospective waiting rooms. I walk in just in time to wish momo good luck.
We turn our attention to the screens so we can witness the champions all come out with the crowd going wild. All 9 teams chose to participate in this event.
Momo, Koneko, Nico, Chrome, Misteeta, Seira, Fleur, Blake and Le Fay pendragon.
The champions are teleported to the bottom of a giant mountain. There are exactly 9 sets of ice stairs ascending into the mountain. Once the whistle goes all the champions quickly choose a set of stairs and start climbing.
Some of them slipped at first while others just started climbing 5 and 6 steps at a time before losing their footing. I saw The boy Nico fall a bit before catching himself on a lower step but that soon cracked and fell out from under him causing him to summon a skeleton hand from the cliff side to catch him.
It seems as if one cant touch the same step twice. I was rooting for Momo who was currently in 3rd place behind Seira and Koneko with Chrome and Misteeta right behind her tying for fourth.
But that all changed once they reached this giant crystalline halls made of mirrors. Koneko reached it first and the doors all sealed themselves and then it started snowing hard in the room. I estimate a few minutes before she's trapped underneath all that snow. Seira and Momo keep running and eventually make it to the second room which they enter cautiously.
It seems as if they weren't trapped but it was a hall of mirrors. Even the simplest devil wouldn't have their senses fooled by a mirror so i didnt quite understand this one. Until i heard Tsubaki gasp next to me. I turn my head to view the screen she was seeing only to find Seira being surrounded by exact copies of her made from ice. They mimicked her movements and even when she pulled out her scythe they all brought our their own ice scythes.
I snap my head back to momos screen to see her gabberflasted at her reflection that came to life and punched her in the face. She was dazed for a second before launching a basic fire spell at the ice clone. But that amount of heat wasn't enough.
She turns and starts running through the hall activating every mirror she passed. Shes breathing hard when a flash of white launches past her through a whole in the ice and Koneko is gone moving forward.
Momo started chasing after the Nekoshou not realizing she brought her own ice army. The girls are running for the top of the mountain never slowing down to get caught in the small army of clones.
At the end of the day its still a race and those clones already allowed people like Chrome and Nico to pass them. Chrome simply covered the mirrors in her mist while Nico shadow travelled past the hall of mirrors. Risky play considering movement magics cause twice as magic when youre unfamiliar of your surroundings.
Back to the white haired..
trio? It seems Seira joined them while i was watching Chrome and Nice past them. Misteeta looks close to catching up and Fleur simply used her wand to turn the mirrors around. The race is neck and neck where most of the champions are stuck here.
Reya starts tapping my shoulder very fast with a sense of urgency, so i turn my head to see her pointing at Chromes screen. I follow her finger just in time to see the expressionless girl walk out of the final chamber before the exit. Shit when did she get so far ahead.
The other champions are finally past the mirror halls when Chrome is confronting the last obstacle a gigantic Frost Wyvern. It roars menacingly towards the eye patch stoic girl and she simply waves her trident and disappears. Her powers are such a cheat. But then the Wyvern sniffs the air and launches a frost breathe towards an area and we see a partially frozen Chrome. The Wyvern roars in triumph as the ground starts shaking and turning into magma.
Chrome looks pissed and that magma seems like its not an illusion. It starts melting all the ice and snow around it and even destroys the stairs coming up to the chambers. The Frost Wyvern screeches from the heat and starts flying upwards to avoid the magma. The ice around her shatters as she walks past the wyvern through the magma thats not affecting her.
The other champions finally arrive after all the set backs just to be greeted by the flying Frost wyvern and a magma coated ground. Koneko crouches down and preparers to jump over the mess and i see Momo release her wings. But it doesnt matter.
"AND WE HAVE A WINNER! CHROME DOKURO FROM TEAM PHOENIX!"
The crowds start going wild again from yhe spectacle they just witnessed. The champions are awarded and Chrome in first got a Weird Fruit. Koneko was awarded second and she got a weird yellowish kitten with a star on its head that she named Kilala. Momo coming in third got a box. Based on the colour Momo got a Sun box. Me and Ingvild both have rain boxes so the Sun is a unique addition. I managed to open mine after Kyouya taught me about flames. So soon ill teach Ingvild and Momo how to access theirs. But for now we need to prepare for the night event.
"NOW THAT THE CHAMPIONS HAVE BEEN AWARDED EVERYONE PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR TONIGHTS NAVAL BATTLE. ALL TEAMS WHO WISH TO PARTICIPATE PLEASE REPORT TO ONE OF OUR COMMITTEE MEMBERS. THATS ALL FOLK ILL SEE YOU THIS EVENING FOR THE AFTERNOON NAVAL BATTLE~!"
A naval battle huh? With my rain box and Sitri water/ ice magic this is my battle. Ill win this event then ill win this game. Ill use this as a platform to show the world i belong by your side Kyouya.
