Kapitel 161: A Faltered Pace

Ezrahl's lips parted slightly as he closed his eyes and whispered something under his breath, something Azenora was too stunned to notice but when he looked at her with those eyes as if he had committed the worst sin, she could no longer hold her heart steady.

"Pardon me, Your Highness," his voice was a little rough, "I shouldn't have-"

"Yes."

Azenora swallowed hard as she replied and all his words were lost when he noticed that dark and alluring emotion flicker behind her eyes.

She felt him tense up when she closed the distance between them. Her lips placed the slightest of a kiss on the side of his face. His faint intoxicating scent was making her resolve waver but she masked her emotions well when she leaned back.

It was her turn to smile carelessly, but perhaps the brightness of her smile failed to hide the glistening sadness behind her eyes.

"Forgive me, but now we are even."
